Akin: Hyenas in the GOP ignore medical science, eat their own
Rightly Concered Blog on American Family Association ^ | 8/22/2012 | Bryan Fischer

Posted on 08/22/2012 7:43:13 PM PDT by JediJones

The slavering, slobbering hyenas in the Republican party, by tearing at the flesh of their own senatorial candidate Todd Akin, are doing their best to blow their shot at taking control of the Senate. By eating their own, they are consuming themselves. And they seem too brainless to know it.

If he loses this race, it will be the fault of party poobahs, not Todd Akin. One of the party leaders actually suggested last night that the GOP try to run a third-party challenge to their own candidate. That would be a certifiably guaranteed way to forfeit victory to the opposition.

Akin’s words, for which he apologized even though he had no need to, were right. He was entirely correct to say that pregnancies in cases of forcible rape are rare.

He did not, by the way, say that pregnancy was impossible in rape, just rare.

How about the New York Times, the Bible of [left-wingers]? “Lowering Stress Improves Fertility Treatment.”

Said Dr. Domar, “If you’re really stressed out and depressed, the body seems to sense that’s not a good time to get pregnant.” Hmm. Sound suspiciously like the body shutting down, no?

Todd Akin uses one word that was grossly misinterpreted by his enemies, and the members of his own party throw his carcass to the jackals.

Now that Akin has decided to stay in...as he should, ignoring the hysterical bellows and the pitchforks, the ruling class Republicans will have to eat some crow and reverse themselves by resuming support for Akin’s candidacy. Certainly they cannot be so stupid as to commit hari-kiri by withholding help because they’re in some kind of snit. Can they?

The lesson from all of this: if you’re a Republican, and you want a friend in the party, you’d better buy a dog.

LOL.....here comes down the Willke Kool-Aid drinkers, the guy who never did a single study to back up his claims which have been thoroughly discredited by those who actually did studies to support what they said. People are only discrediting themselves by relying on sources that are basically laughed at.

There's studies that show increased suicide rate and severe emotional trauma after women undergo an abortion...but hey, let's bring out the go-to-quack-doctor who didn't accomplish a single study in his entire career

The gop wants Akins out, all conservatives out.

Even a broken clock can be right twice a day. EVERYBODY except the democrats and Joe Biden want Akins out!

Pretty sure Akin isn't the only pro-life Republican in Missouri. Ann Wagner or John Brunner could take over for him in a heart beat and neither have the baggage that he currently does. I feel like its inevitable that he's going to drop out and having someone like Brunner on deck would be tremendous.

I am pro-life and I want Akins out for the damage he has already done to the pro-life movement.

Bryan, what you don’t seem to understand is that the GOP is made up of cowards. They always cut and run in the face of criticism from the left. That is why the GOP can not be trusted in politics, war, or even a game of checkers. Members of that club would rather stab their own in the back than to stand up and fight for one of their own who screwed up. It would not matter if the GOP managed to get 70 seats in the Senate it will still find an excuse not to repeal Obamcare or reduce the size of government. How much longer are conservatives going to continue to fall victim to the GOP?

Yes, they are. But the Akins fiasco is NOT a good example to use. Akins managed to get Joe Biden's stupidity off the front pages of the news cycle.

So I guess Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and Allen West are RINOs now

It was Sarah Palin who proposed a 3d party candidate to run against Akin. Not real conservative of Palin to basicaly help McCaskill get re-elected

As for Allen West...he will have to answer to the Pro-Life voters in his district. The Pro-Life Conservatives here in Florida are livid at the way Akin is being treated

As for Rush....you probably want to kick him off the air because of the Fluke comments. They sure did not help the GOP.

His gaffe was not a big deal

It made international news. I suppose you think the moon landing was not a big deal either. Or maybe Clinton's finger wagging. That was just sex, not a big deal, let's move on. Same corrupt logic.

It was a huge deal. Yet, you and the demented dozen defenders of the indefensible have circled the wagons around Akin because you liked the pro-life "tune" he was playing.

Wake up! He is not irreplaceable! His continued presence jeopardizes the very values and agenda you and he claim to hold dear.

Akin's fighting hard for a fatter paycheck and power power. His actions tells us he's not fighting for the causes but something much less noble.

I don't know if you're paying attention to what is going on, but the only people who want this guy to stay in, are BEGGING for him to stay in, is the far left. This isn't a situation where the GOP capitulates to the left and removes a deserving conservative or allowing someone to get Borked, this is where a conservative FUBAR's things so badly that there's not repairing it, politically he's dead in the water and anyone with an ounce of political savvy understand that. The GOP doesn't want him out because he's "conservative", they want him out because he's going to cost them what should have been an easy pickup seat in the Senate.

Why do you think McCaskill was funding this guy, spending $2 million in advertising to help him win the primary? She saw a chump early on and said screw it, the Democrats would LOVE to see this guy stay all the way through, its an easy pickup for them.

Christine O'Donnell's "I'm not a witch" was pretty bad, but Akin's comments were several levels above that. Not only that, now you have every GOP candidate, even here in Arizona being asked "so what do you think legitimate rape is??" So instead of talking about the economy and going on the offensive, we're walking through sandtraps talking about "real rape" vs "fake rape."

Nothing's occurred here that he can't recover from, if his own party would accept his apology and give him a second chance.

NO. He turned an 11 point advantage into a 7-10 point disadvantage.

This fire he's started has spread to other races across the country. The GOP is now the smeared as "the Party of Rape" thanks to half-baked Akin.

He's probably fighting to hold RINO Romney's feet to the fire. Romney needs as many enemies in the Congress against his liberal-leaning policies as he can get, so the rift between Romney and Akin just makes me want to support Akin twice as much. Akin's voting record makes it clear what he's fighting for. He's a staunch Christian conservative, not a RINO. And he wouldn't be staying in if he didn't think he could win.

I'm not interested indefending Akin's comments, and neither is he. He apologized and said he is wrong. What's indefensible is his own party pulling the money and support out and trashing him in the press, over a seat we have to win. They made the wrong call. And it is their refusal to accept his apology and give him a second chance, as well as their blowing this up into a "rift in the GOP" story, which has far more media traction then a mere liberal attack, that jeopardizes the Republican chances in this election.

1. Very few people outside Missouri knew who Todd Akin was before this weekend, or still would if he were moderately coherent. And that includes the “eeeeevil GOP Establishment and the liberal media”, let alone the rank-and-file. In fact, go outside his district and I think finding people inside Missouri who knew who he was would have been a dodgy proposition. The only thing people know about Todd Akin is he said something really dumb, of the kind of dumb that the Democrats and the actual liberal media really love to hear from Republicans and use to make other Republicans and conservatives, politicians, staffers, media folk and rank-and-filers alike miserable, especially during election campaigns. Which the Dems and the actual liberal media are in fact doing right now with more relish than a Chicago dog. And entirely unsurprisingly, the guys on our side are extremely unhappy with Akin because of it. In short it’s not personal, it’s business.

2. If you want the “eeeeevil GOP Establishment and liberal media” to move on from this and give Todd a fair chance to run his race and discuss the issues, it might be at least minimally helpful in that regard to stop waving studies around and saying “He was right! He was right! See? See?” and talk about something else.

3. If we’re now trying to stretch the terms “GOP Establishment” and “liberal media” far enough to include Sarah Palin, those terms have become entirely meaningless.

The writer of this article isn't a Dem. Mike Gallagher and Steve Deace are staunchly supporting Akin and they're not Dems. They're also not RINO Romney Republicans.

Rush already admitted he carried the GOP’s water in 2008 and held back giving his real opinions on McCain in order to help them win. Most of these prominent conservative talkers are in bed with the GOP establishment. I listen to Mike Gallagher and Steve Deace now, guys who refuse to compromise their principles or deny the truth just because the GOP establishment asks.

Part of that is that Clear Channel (Rush, Ingraham, Hannity, Levin..) is owned by Bain Capital.

A woman can only get pregnant 6 days a month. Max. 30 days in a month. What are the chances that she gets raped during those exact days. Do the math.
