AKIN FOR SENATE
e-mail | 08/23/2012 | MIKE HUCKABEE (and me)

Posted on 08/23/2012 8:08:40 PM PDT by RichSr

I am supporting THE Missouri pro-life candidate with something when my S S comes in this month; Americans who desire anti abortion candidates should do the same.

Remember we ALL will stand before GOD and give an account for our votes.

Todd Akin for Senate

The deadline came and went on Tuesday for Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin to drop out over an incorrect comment he made about rape. The Republican establishment put unprecedented and intense pressure on Todd to quit, including five current and past Missouri Senators. But in an exclusive interview on my radio show, Akin said he’s “in this race to the end.” He said he admitted he misspoke and that his statement was not accurate, but he’d sincerely apologized. You can listen to the audio from that interview here.

The Party’s leaders have for reasons that aren't rational, left him behind on the political battlefield, wounded and bleeding, a casualty of his self-inflicted, but not intentional wound. In a Party that supposedly stands for life, it was tragic to see the carefully orchestrated and systematic attack on a fellow Republican. Not for a moral failure or corruption or a criminal act, but for a misstatement which he contritely and utterly repudiated. I was shocked by GOP leaders and elected officials who rushed so quickly to end the political life of a candidate over a mistaken comment in an interview. This was a serious mistake, but it was blown out of proportion not by the left, but by Akin's own Republican Party. Is this what the party really thinks of principled pro-life advocates? Do we forgive and forget the verbal gaffes of Republicans who are "conveniently pro-life" for political advantage, but crucify one who truly believes that every life is sacred?

Who ordered this "Code Red" on Akin? There were talking point memos sent from the National Republican Senatorial Committee suggesting language to urge Akin to drop out. Political consultants were ordered to stay away from Akin or lose future business with GOP committees. Operatives were recruited to set up a network of pastors to call Akin to urge him to get out. Money has changed hands to push him off the plank. It is disgraceful. From the spotlights of political offices and media perches, it may appear that the demand for Akin’s head is universal in the party. I assure you it is not. There is a vast, but mostly quiet army of people who have an innate sense of fairness and don't like to see a fellow political pilgrim bullied. If Todd Akin loses the Senate seat, I will not blame Todd Akin. He made his mistake, but was man enough to admit it and apologize. I'm waiting for the apology from whoever the genius was on the high pedestals of our party who thought it wise to not only shoot our wounded, but run over him with tanks and trucks and then feed his body to the liberal wolves. It wasn't just Todd Akin that was treated with contempt by the thinly veiled attack on Todd Akin. It was all the people who have faithfully knocked doors, made calls, and made sacrificial contributions to elect Republicans because we thought we were welcome in the party. Todd Akin owned his mistake. Who will step up and admit the effort being made to discredit Akin and apologize for the sleazy way it's been handled?

I’ve always believed and still do, that if you don’t honor your friendships, you don’t honor yourself. And I consider Todd a friend. So I will join Todd as often as I can, in his fight for our Party’s pro-life policies, traditional marriage and our efforts to rein in the massive expansion of government under President Obama. Todd is being systematically scourged for one thing he said. Is that more important than what Claire McCaskill has DONE over her 6 years in the Senate? If you’d like to join the fight, and help defeat a Democrat Senator standing in the way of a conservative majority, I encourage you to join me. The party has decided it won't help. In fact, it has decided that it will try to cut off the supply lines to Akin to pressure him to exit and let the party bosses overturn the voters of Missouri and pick their own candidate. If this can happen to Todd Akin, who is next?

I’ve heard the talk of new deadlines and the nonsense about the Republican Party running a 3rd party candidate, but I am no longer listening to that noise. The idea that our Party would continue to play games behind the scenes and feed the Democrats make-believe narrative of the GOP’s fictional war on women is equally ridiculous. Now is the time to focus on electing a conservative Senate Majority. And if the NRSC and RNC and the money-rich PACS won't help Todd Akin get us to the majority, then we'll do it without them. And his seat will not have been sold to the highest bidder, but obtained by the highest principles.

With gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

Since that Akin guy said a stupid thing and now refuses to drop out, then that means we are supposed to trash and thrash Akin so that Claire McWhatever gets reelected? Is that it???

Wow.

I never cared for Huckabee that much, but just changed my mind. A man willing to stand for what is right, when it seems the majority is against him. If the gop keeps this up, they will be blamed for mass exodus to a third party candidate. I also think the rabid attack dogs here are only working for the rnc, romney or the devil. I know one thing for sure. Jesus would NOT vote for someone who is for any kind of abortion, letting innocent children be adopted by homosexuals, who thinks he is god, thus believing in false idols and who was so corrupt in the primary & still is. I bet there are romney lovers out there that want to intimidate me. Look at the hand...Sorry, going to bed. Will get up and send money to Akins tomorrow.

We are in a fight to the death for the soul of this country. Life ain't fair, and if Akin can't handle that he's a bigger jackass than I thought. It's not about Akin. It's about saving the country.

Akin and Huckabee can both go away. If Akin is a real patriot he will find another way to serve our country.

Politicians need the gift of gab. Akin stepped all over himself with that statement proving he’s not the brightest bulb on the tree but I’d still vote for him over McCaskill.

I feel exactly the same way. Huck showed some stones by doing this, rather than being just another stone-throwing GOP-e shill.

Two Selfish self centered crackpots who care only about their POWER MONEY AND DC PRIVILEDGE peddling some phony
VICTIM MARTYR complex AND NOW TRYING TO RAISE CASH PLAYING THE VICTIM CARD.

DISGUSTING.

Huckster is the scam artist who stuck us with McCain in 2008 !

Akin is going to DRAG down all the GOP candidates in MO because he and his family /reelection team ( Wife and SON ) are desperate to keep their DC Life styles !

Finally , there were THREE Pro life candidates ( Steelman and Brunner) in the PRIMARY race not just this selfish greedy fool.

As Michele Malkin said - Time to LEAVE - before you do more damage to other MO candidates down the ticket !

Screw Huckabee too if he can’t see the big picture here.

Akin will be gone. Either by doing what any sane person would do and put the country before his big frickin’ ego, or by getting his ass handed to him in November. Just watch.

Remember we ALL will stand before GOD and give an account for our votes.

I have a real problem with this statement. I can see it being used to browbeat people into voting for a particular candidate, with the threat that God will punish them if they don't.

We no longer live in a Christian nation and from this point forward will rarely see a committed Christian running for office. Not in the current political arena and I don't believe it will ever change for the better. Besides, what do we truly know about ANY candidate? All too often I've voted for the one I thought was, "Christian," only to watch them vote time and again against freedom and in favor of statism. What about the so-called Christian Democrat who was supposedly pro-life until he found out that he could benefit by voting, "against his conscience." If I had voted for him, would God be happy with me or not?? How are any of us supposed to predict the actions of an elected official. Truth is 99% of them are corrupt to the core. The are corrupted so easily and so quickly it's hard to believe otherwise.

Sorry, but I don't buy into God judging me according to my voting record AT ALL. Most of the world's Christians, past and present, have lived in non-Christian nations. When it came time to vote, was it a mark against them if they voted for a sinner?

This is so un-Biblical that I'm finding it hard to believe that people are giving credence to it.

I don't know about you but for me the RED FLAGS went up when I found out the pro-abortionists were financially funding the campaign of this man who has since done more harm than good to the pro-life movement.

Could this be why Claire McWhatever likes Akin so much?

Me, I support pro-life candidates who have the objective to advance the movement NOT set it back.

“Me, I support pro-life candidates who have the objective to advance the movement NOT set it back.”

It seems now on FR that if you oppose Akin you are pro choice, not that you are so concerned about stopping abortions, that you actually want a candidate that is pro life to win.

If Akin is a real patriot he will find another way to serve our country.

Three of his sons served in the USMC (two are still on active duty) and Akin served as an officer in the U.S. Army with the Army Combat Engineers.

I don't question Todd Akin's patriotism for one minute.

Exactly!! It is about winning back the Senate and Akin, fair or not, is damaged goods. He did not make a "misstatement" by mixing up his words. He blurted out "facts" that are both fiction and offensive at the same time. You just can't do that and still be considered a viable candidate for the US Senate. It also feeds that narrative that Conservative Christians are mean spirited and ignorant. Fair or not, those are the facts.

Akin has branded himself ignorant at the National level. He is down 10-points and near 50% of Missouri voters have a negative view of him. Those numbers are off the charts. There is not enough time and he doesn't have enough cash to run the ads and do the things necessary to repair his extremely damaged image.

Akin will lose in November not because he is a Christian or pro-life. He will lose because he is a weak candidate for the office he seeks.

First of all’
We are to recognize that ALL will stand before GOD whether we like it or not;
then we need to recognize who exactly IS in charge.
WE are to do pur best, HE will “chastize/punish/spank” or what ever we call it.
People do not read their Bibles, so they don’t know what it says; or they read it so seldom, they get it out of context.
How do you think Prophecies are done?
If one person won’t do what HE wants, he uses another. there are, however a certain number of people that can not say no. That is how we got SAUL or PAUL.
Scripture will tell you ALL of these things.
Hey; I am seventy plus yrs old and I still make more than my share of mistakes, and I can’t tell how many times I have read it. But I’m a KJV only because of those many scriptures that warn us not to delete or add anything to it.
You are responsible to YOU to do right; GOD is responsible to do the rest.

Who knows the strength of the Christian? The tea party does not actually show numbers, so no one really knows how strong we are. How many "representatives" have we "fired"? We now have the to help. How many fraudulent votes were cleaned up? Have yoy joined to be a poll watcher? Go to truethevote.org and sign up, if you want an honest election. GOD will do HIS part if we will do ours. The reason we are having such a rough time today is rooted in Read it and tell me what you think it means. PROPHECY IN ACTION!
