The following is the text of a letter sent to US House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner, on August 31, by the Conservative Party of New York State Chairman Michael R. Long:

Dear Speaker Boehner:

New York State, in 2010, delivered more new GOP Congressmen to you than any other state in our Nation. They helped you become the Majority Leader and this year will help keep the GOP Majority in the House, in fact may even be part of giving you a bigger majority.

Why would you say there is "no significant US Senate race underway" when we both know that we are already fighting the enrollment numbers in this blue state? New York voters are concerned about the fiscal future of our nation and are looking for candidates who will go to Washington to make a difference.

Reading this piece by Wendy Long, we can see why fiscal conservatives such as Steve Forbes, Grover Norquist, et al, are endorsing Wendy.

You can narrow the results by state and it has a very nice grid that shows gains as well as wins. It’s very good, their election stuff is always excellent.

It appears NY added 5 republicans to their congressional delegation and that’s the most that I can find after poking around through the other big states.

My state, NJ is horrible. The Times has it Dems expect to win easily/dems expected to win narrowly/toss-ups/Rs expected to win easily/Rs expected to win narrowly

In NJ EVERYONE is expected to win easily (except for one toss-up open seat which did go R) and they all did, with at least 55% of the vote. We are so gerrymandered in this state, it’s a disgrace.

You have to remember that New York was ludicrously overrepresented by Democrats in districts that were historically Republican. At one point, the GOP was down to TWO out of 29 seats by mid-2009 (whereas we had 10 out of 29 going into the 2004 election, with the Dems gradually picking off some weak incumbents and open seats, dropping to 9, and then 6 with 2006 and 3 in 2008, and then 2 when Zero appointed one to a subcabinet post and the Dems won the special in an upset).

The GOP reclaimed 6 lost seats in November 2010, going back up to 8, and came close in 4 other seats (though we later lost Chris Lee’s seat when he resigned and the Dems again scored an unexpected upset in the special for what was the longest-held GOP seat left in the state — but we compensated for that by capturing the Weiner seat).

Ultimately, we are competitive for at least 14-15 of those 29 districts (and have held those at least at some point in the past two decades). With the redistricting and loss of two seats (to 27), there still is no reason we can’t take at least 10-12 of those with good and well-funded candidates (and at least 13 of the 27 are competitive for us).

As for New Jersey, there’s no reason we shouldn’t have a tie of 6-6 come November (the GOP already has 6, and with redistricting, the Dems forced to have Pascrell & Rothman run against each other, they’ve already lost a seat while we hold all of ours).

New York is one thing, but I really don’t get why NJ isn’t staunchly republican. Our state motto is Liberty & Prosperity!

Still, we did get lucky with that re-districting. And, as seems plain, incumbents are ENTRENCHED here, so I guess we can count on holding what we have.

I’m very glad Christie didn’t become the veep candidate, I hope he runs for re-election and wins and I hope he can do better in building up the party state wide. He hasn’t done much so far - I don’t know why that is, but, perhaps things will improve as time goes by.

New Jersey has always been a fairly competitive state. It has also, unfortunately, produced some truly horrible political figures (going back to George McClellan in 1864). Worse yet is the corruption and the liberal statism of both state parties. The last actual Conservative Governor was Charles Edison, then a Democrat, in 1940 (and he had to go on bended knee to the corrupt Boss Hague of Jersey City to get the nod).

Go back to the 1980s and you had Governor Tom Kean who won a sweeping reelection victory in 1985 (and getting even a substantial % of the Black vote), but he did next to zilch for the state GOP (and the “Republicans” he did try to help in those days were people like Albio Sires — yes, THAT Albio Sires) and the state swiftly fell to Flim-Flam Florio.

At least one good thing you can say about Florio is that in his midterm elections, the GOP won gargantuan majorities in the legislature. The bad news is with the execrable Christie Whitman beating Florio (and only narrowly in both her runs), she proceeded to piss away all those incredible gains with her statist leadership, and by the time DiFrancesco took over, it was all wiped out for good (and the parting shot from those establishment imbeciles was to sabotage Bret Schundler, a Conservative who should’ve been a national star, from succeeding them — indeed, you can thank both Chrissie and Donnie for the pervert McGreevey and all the 8 years of rotating Governor chaos that followed).

While Christie not Whitman is perhaps a slight improvement, I’ve been wary of him going back to his days as U.S. Attorney. He doesn’t “get it” on illegals and the same threat posed by Mohammandans to our way of life. He’s more sound and fury but little else. You may get 8 years out of him, but ultimately as with Kean & Whitman/DiFrancesco, will you get much else ?

Oh Lord, Sires was a republican? I have it on good authority that the man is as dumb as a box of rocks! I guess we were well rid of him.

And you are 100% correct about Schundler, the party completely betrayed him. That was all abortion uber alles stuff, disgusting. Also, I have heard there was a lot of resistance to vouchers.

But, he could have won, if he had had support and you are right that led to McGreevey and all that stuff.

I work in a law firm and it was pretty amusing the day McGreevy came out of the closet. 1/2 the people were completely shocked, to the other half it was old news.

I think The Onion had the best take on it. Their headline read:

TEARFUL HOMOSEXUAL ADMITS TO BEING GOVERNOR OF NEW JERSEY.

Yup, Sires was a Kean Republican. They ran him for Congress as long ago as 1986 against incumbent Democrat Frank Guarini (he lost in a landslide). Tried again for a Hudson County Freeholder slot, lost for that, too. Flash forward 20 years and this time he was the Democrat running for Guarini's old seat (Menendez served in between, of course), but this time the GOP nominee was a Guarini, a cousin of Frank's. Interesting that Sires tends not to mention his Republican heritage. I wonder what Tom, Sr. thinks about his protege ?

Going back to Schundler, he is so typical of what happens when we have exceptional figures within our party, they often have to be "destroyed" for the threat they pose to the establishment. Truth be told, I think there are way too many rich country-clubber White Socialist bigots in the GOP that are terrified at the prospect of other Republicans that have the power to lead or appeal to other ethnic groups on the basis of Conservatism and increase their presence in the party. Sure, they can tolerate a few tokens (Sires under Kean), but a mass migration of thousands of brown-skinned people into the GOP whom they might actually have to fraternize with in positions of power ? Oh, the horror !

I think people forget how close McGreevey came to knocking off Whitman after just a single term (the myth that she was popular in the state is just that - she won in '93 solely because ANYONE who ran against Florio would've won, but she was about the worst person we could've ever put up, an elitist liberal snob and big gubmint statist). She didn't almost lose because McGreevey was so appealing, but because she was so viscerally disliked by so many Republicans. Like more than a few other so-called "Republicans", I think she was (is) nothing more than a closeted Democrat, one who could maximize damage to the GOP from within (Gov. William Weld of MA was another, Ah-nold out in CA -- and unfortunately, so is the present nominee for President, a big reason I've so vociferously opposed his candidacy for more than 6 years running).

Mike Long endorsed Patakifeller for Governor to get his family patronage jobs, and his party is notoriously soft on the public goon-yuns.

I was told about Kathy thru Jason McGuire we have also backed her. We have 7 candidates running for senate and she is one of them.

I left the NY Conservative Party because of my differences with Mike Long’s RINO endorsements.

HOWEVER, I’m not going to bite my nose to spite my face, when he backs good candidates like Doug Hoffman, Wendy Long, et al.
