We had a cat who watched carefully and learned to turn the door knob and open it. Cats love to watch the toilet being flushed, too.

My tux drinks mainly from faucets, he likes to sit and watch and smell the water before he drinks. Sort of gets himself into the mood, or makes himself thirsty. He does the same with his litterbox before he does his duty.

Does your Tux retrieve or play tug-of-war? Mine is also a rescue and I've discovered he loves both of those games.

Wait, cats drinking from a water bowl? Surely you jest. Mine only drink from the bathroom sink. You mean, that’s not normal???

My Lady did that. Pissed her off when I did a did a dead latch.

She's working on it.

Get a better system. I’ve had 3. 1 was great then died. 1 my cat learned how to get it to piss on my kitchen hardwood floor screwing them up, and the last one a triangle with an internal pump/filter,$70, works great. bottom reservoir, upper pool with a central spillway(same co that caused $1500 damage to my floor) You want the cats to drink from the upper pool or sluice gate, not the bottom pool. Hit me off line for ideas if you really are uncertain.

One of my cats used to do that too. They can’t see the water the way we do. The other cat preferred drinking running water from the sink in the bathroom. What I love about cats is that they tell you want they want if you can “listen” by observing and responding correctly.

Oh, you couldn’t be more wrong. My cats always knew when I was ill or upset and would come give me kitty kisses and try to lick my head.

Sorry, I don't know nothing about cats.

Bad eyesight?

I agree.

She needs contacts so take her to an optometrist.

I agree that they probably cannot see the water surface the way we do and they are testing it to see how far it is.

My cat does what I call “the dip and flick”. He dips his paw in and flicks the water everywhere, dips again, flicks more...until there is water all over the place! He even drinks from a water fountain and does this! Just a little stinker!

I’ve got a Tuxedo that around 5:00am (luckily it’s darker later now) stares at me. If he sense ANY movement, he starts whining for me to feed him. I just put him outside the bedroom door and go back to sleep crazy kitteh.

I walk them outside on my shoulder, seems they’re good with that.

You don’t want to take them on too long a walk. It might exhaust them.

You & your wife are in my prayers. I was alone when our 15 yr old cat was ready to pass. The kids were off to college and my husband was traveling for work, so I bore the burden alone. I had made the vet appointment to put him down for the next morning, but he passed in the evening before I could take him. It’s hard, so I know what you’re going through. Take care.

Nothing to worry about. If you have ceiling fans that reflect in the water dish some of the cats go nuts chasing the fan blades reflection in the water. Quite messy, but lots of fun. Other times it’s their own reflection that sets them off, and they just have to touch.

We’ve had many cats over the years, and some real stories to tell. Currently have sixteen. Yes, we are nuts.

I have three and my male cat has the odd habit of pawing the floor with one paw while he’s drinking. Almost like it’s a reflexive action. He’s the only cat I’ve ever had that does that.

Please pray for my wife and I. This late afternoon we’ll bring our 12-yr old cat Michel to the vet and put him to sleep. He has huge mass on his stomach, and the past several days had liquid all over his body. He’s been immobile for a while. Although he still eat, he’s always under pain killer 24/7, so we decide not to prolong his suffering. This is new experience for us.

I feel your pain.

Prayers for you. I had to put down my 16 yr old and my 13 yr old last Sept. I got two young kitties (not quite kittens) who had been rescued together but not from the same litter. I have always heard to get 2 together. It is SO TRUE!

These two are best buddies, they groom each other, hug and love each other and entertain me to the max. You can't believe the relief from grief.

My cats are afraid of Outside. I don’t think they like the meal service.

I’m very sorry for your loss. What a heart rending tragedy. If Michel has that huge tumor, he has to be in some pain, which would only have gotten worse. Better to gently go to sleep in a few seconds with his loving mom & dad right there to ease his passing. I really feel for you, am in tears just typing this. Been there (for kitty kidney failure), done that. Still hurts.
