I knew a hell raising single stewardess back in the 70s that was a friend of my younger brother. She would talk of after-flight parties and social hi jinks on flights. She said that when she had young attractive expense account guys she liked on a flight she would change her TWA name tag to get after flight possibilities underway while the drink cart was still open.
I asked, “alternate name tag?” She reached in her purse and pulled out a TWA name tag that read “Fonda Peters” and said it generally was a conversation starter.
That was the 70s for sure.
20, maybe? If some stew messes up once, that will stay in someone’s memory.
I was on a World Airways flight out of LAX that suddenly lost hydraulic power on the left side, and we bounced around the sky, dumped fuel, and did an emergency landing. One flight attendant did snap at someone- But I don’t count that.
What happened to Beck was deliberate meanness, not some transient negligence.
I agree, Beck was most likely singled out.
As much as I travel, the customer service has taken a nose dive, people are treated like cattle, with little service on the plane and testy attendants.
If you are treated well, that’s great.
” That was the 70s for sure..”
Bwaaaa! Fur shure! And no gay male stewards! I was stunned by the beautiful stewardesses on the flights between the Hawaiian Islands.
This airline abused a downs syndrome child and his family as well. Given they politically harassed Glenn, I wonder if this incident of abuse was a Sarah Palin lefty hate thing? Remember how they berated her baby?
Anyway they are going to be sued to high heaven...
“The flight attendant sounds lite in the loafers”
I’m with you...certainly sounds like a meat packer.
“In fact one of them in the late 70’s invited me to go home with her.”
Gosh I miss the days before airline deregulation. (grin)
I don’t fly much anymore if I can possibly help it (don’t like the pre-flight wanna-be jackboots and molestors). But, when I used to fly a lot, I considered it a good day if I made it through a flight without a flight attendant “incident.” I would try to be as cheery but innocuous as possible. (Again, not with Southwest — I adore them.)
Speaking of Ford Tri-motors, does anyone (maybe in Ohio, but not exclusively)know if they are still flying them to the Lake Erie islands? When I was in High School (in Ohio) they were still flying, but that has been multiple decades ago...
It was retired, but I don’t remember where it went now (aging, so much fun). I believe the Experimental Aircraft Association owns it. It’s still around for air shows. When I was 8 years old, I got to sit in the cockpit with the pilot. It was a wonderful gesture and I later ended up getting a pilot’s license and am married to a pilot. A real life lesson that kindness by a stranger can have a profound impact on a child.
LOL! Post o’ the day.
Thanks for the info... I know the units were old back then, so I figured they would be out of service..
LOL
He was treated rudely ON PURPOSE simply because the Flight Attendant hates him.
This isn’t about Customer Service, this is all about the Airline Employee’s personal HATRED of Glenn Beck.
I’m surprised the Flight Attendant isn’t speaking at the Democrat Convention.
Just had a thought. I wonder of the HATER Flight Attendant would have hesitated in helping Mr. Beck if an Emergency situation occurred during the Flight?
Haters gotta hate and all that.
They are putting in 4 seats where there were 3. My butt will never fit. Guess I won’t be flying. I imagine the ticket counter folks will have to measure people when they check in.
LOL, you forgot to include the sarc tag right?
Or maybe it is just because you are not a nationally recognizable personality who has taken public stands against social issues with which a male flight attendant might disagree.
But scariest flight was an old Frontier 737-200 from SNA-DEN, I watched a constant stream of dark fluid about 3 inches wide coming from the engine cowling the whole flight...followed by a very dark bumpy T'Storm approach into Denver.
(I almost experienced my own stream of dark fluid on that one)
Instead we got the new Delta which took the worse from old Delta and dumped the best from Northwest and we got the new United which took the worse from United and imposed it on the re-organized and improving Continental.
