Just checked the do not track plus installed about six months ago. It claims 85,482 tracking attempts were blocked by their software for me.

I believe they are limited to commercial sector spying though judging from the type of spam I get I suspect a source of revenue for some enterprising bureaucrat/bureaucracy originates from deep inside some mountain out west.

But I’ve always had an active imagination. ;^)

One thing to remember is that while the government is not allowed to do most of this domestic spying themselves, they are free to purchase all the data collected by private companies, who are allowed to do the spying by law. So, all the FBI or CIA has to do is buy access to the databases of the private data mining firms, and it’s all nice and legal.
