In response to the Sept. 1 letter “Color of your skin still matters in this country”: How right the writer is. Remember President Obama’s State of the Union address when a legislator shouted out “You lie!”? I am 59 years old and have never seen any president so disrespected.
How about the tea party’s “we want our country back”? That’s blatant racism.
Remember Donald Trump leading the Republican primary? He forced Obama to show his birth certificate again. Trump had no intention of running for president. He doesn’t want his business dealings to be scrutinized.
No one can say where Mitt Romney stands on major issues. He’s in a virtual dead heat with Obama because Obama is black.
The Obama presidency highlighted the Republican Party as the white people’s party. Far too many whites will never vote for a black man. But like all other civil rights struggles, there are just enough fair-minded white people to overcome the ignorance.
It still amazes me that a human being can hate another because of skin color. My black brothers and sisters also need to wake up. If they are prejudiced against whites, then they are no better than racist white people.
I think that by electing this country’s first black president, the United States has worldwide respect as never before. Now, we look like we walk it like we talk it.
What do you think the world view was in the ’60s? We preached democracy and freedom while white police beat blacks with nightsticks, let dogs bite them, stung them with high-pressure fire hoses. I would imagine the United States was viewed as a nation of hypocrites.
White people, please, don’t adhere to the tea party battle cry “we want our country back.” Check out Romney’s position on important issues. Don’t vote for Romney just to get rid of the black man in office.

You will, of course notice, that he doesn’t ever offer any proof that anything he cited had anything to do with race.
“You lie!” well, he DID LIE. The author of course won’t address that or explain how this was racial.
Perhaps this letter writer slept through all the slamming of President Bush including being burned in efigy and a movie about him being assinated.

I don't have enormous dislike of Obama do to his color. I have enormous dislike for him because of the ideas in his head. The same dislike applies to Pelosi, Reid, Kerry and all of the screaming-meemies that worship those ideas. No matter their color or gender.

Actually, I think this guy has two different events confused.
The “You lie comment” came during a session of Congress. And as you said, he did lie.
The State of the Union incident came after O totally dressed down the Supremes in front of an applauding audience. Roberts mouthed “That’s not true.”
This guy needs to get his diss moments correct to have any credibility.
Why do democrats always obsess about people’s skin color? I personally wouldn’t care if Zero looked like Christopher Walken. He has screwed up for four years, and its time for him to step aside and let someone else have a go at turning things around. I for one am really tired of paying 70 dollars to fill up my tank, and of looking at one shuttered up shop after another where there used to be hectic commerce.

Most of the disrepect was focused on and toward: “God, Christ, the Church and the teaching of Christ!”

I know I’m not a racist. But my point is that if they want to call me one, have at it. Now let’s discuss obama’s goals. All they can say is “You’re a racist”.
I talked to a guy who has two issues, abortion and gay rights. I pointed out to him that there have been 28 years of republicans in the white house since Roe V Wade. And there have been 12 years of democrats since Roe V Wade, not counting obama. And there are five so called conservative justices on the SC. With all that Roe V. Wade is still the law. So making a decision as to who to vote for based on abortion rights is stupid. Apparently it ain’t goin’ away.
Now, gay rights. First of all, I ask him if he’s gay. He says “no”. So I say “You will decide to vote for president based solely on an issue that does not even affect you?” He didn’t have a response.
I’ve come to the conclusion that there really are a bunch of white folks who are voting for obama so they won’t be thought of as racists. It sure as hell ain’t the issues. The race hustlers are winning.
I know a lot of despicable things were said about Bush, but being assinated has to be the worst.
