I think that the fundamental question is, “Why did Komen start funding PP in the first place?” What does abortion have to do with breast cancer? I’ve even heard that there’s a causal link between the two. I have no sympathy for either group, PP or Komen. Komen has always impressed me as nothing more than a slick marketing campaign.
Why did Komen start funding PP in the first place?
My understanding is very possibly due PP has an apparently miniscule interest in Breast Cancer, therefore they probably qualified for some grants under that guise. I say guise as what I understand to be PP’s Breast Cancer interest is quite miniscule, and probably only intended as bait for such grants. It’s the Leftist way. They will do anything to promote their money grabbing ways to fund as much of their self interests anyway they can.
This is what I really found interesting: “.... Komen was not getting any real breast cancer prevention bang for its buck out of the $600,000 a year or so it granted to PP which, by the way, makes up a miniscule fraction of a percent of PPs annual budget. They get $1.5 million per day from the federal government alone. Yes, you read that right.”
We’ll be picking up that book as soon as we can.
If one were cynical, one would think that Komen gives to PP because they know that as long as women have abortions, there will never be a lack of breast cancer patients. There is too much money “searching for the cure” to ever actually find it and as long as there is abortion, there will always be breast cancer. PP gives Komen it's raison d’etre.
