Fighter jets in Democratic convention’s military montage were Turkish, not American

The Democratic Party’s national convention in Charlotte, N.C., may have doubled down on insulting the U.S. military community.

The Democratic National Committee has already apologized for using a photo of four Soviet-era Russian warships in a giant stage backdrop intended to illustrate the party’s support for military personnel and veterans.

That huge image, visible in the Time Warner Cable Arena during speeches by Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry and retired Admiral John B. Nathman, also depicted a synchronized formation of jet aircraft that convention-goers assumed were American fighter planes.

But the F-5 fighter planes in the photo are part of the air force of Turkey, a nation whose government is now jailing journalists and establishing Islam as a state religion.

Well, the Democrat party does support military personnel and veterans. Just not ours. BTT.

I guess the Air Force was testing them before giving them to the Turks.

Apparently Obama’s multimedia people have better access to foreign military gear (and advice) than they do domestic equipment.

“You need battleship pictures? I have one right on my country’s servers, here it is!”

And naturally nobody who checks or edits the stuff has a clue what they are looking at, either.

I commented on this during the first stories of the Soviet ships. There is a small community of F-5 adversaries in the Navy and Marines. We were all laughing about the F-5s showing up in backdrop, accusing our sister squadrons of running a demo team in secret on the weekends.

In a test, President Obama could tell the difference between a ship and an airplane 23% of the time. He was 100% in identifying which country or state the Choom was from.

Not true. The second ship in line is the Ukranian frigate Hetman Sahaydachniy which, although a Soviet design, was built after the SU collapsed in a Ukranian shipyard. So it's only three Soviet era ships ;)
