Is this Mitt's "macaca" moment?
one man's opinion....

Posted on 09/18/2012 9:26:08 AM PDT by ken5050

Listening to the MSM and the Dems attempt to roll up Romney's campaign over his comments about the 47%, it's starting to resemble the same playbook that was used to beat Allen in VA senate race. Anyone else remember "macaca," and how Allen was never able to get beyond it?

Wondering if any others feel the same way. Also, hope Mitt has learned that all you can do in this case is attack...he needs to own his comments, not back away from them.

I suspect that Mitt's comments will resonate favorably with many voters...

I agree: this is a win win. There are 53% of the people who are producers. This is, allowing for a couple of "undecideds/3d party types," results in a 4% national Romney win.

Romney does have to stand up on this. We'll see if he does.

If Romney starts waffling or backing down or hemming and hawing, then yes, this could be. But if Romney holds firm and further reinforces his comments, then no, this will only strengthen him.

I know the media is trying to use it against him. But, I don't think it's working.

I've been following the comments on this story on Yahoo. They are usually pretty liberal. I think there are people who have nothing to do but post Democrat talking points and down-vote anything to the contrary.

Today, I'm seeing a flood of positive comments for both stories about the "secret video": the 47%, and the Palestinian state. Mitt seems to have tapped into an undercurrent of rage.

LS, you’re forgetting that Odinga also has a lock on:

* the stupid vote;
* the dead vote;
* the negro vote;
* the Jewish vote;
* the Snowbird vote (here in FL, anyway);
* the multiple-ballot college-brat vote;
* the bussed-in homeless vote;
* with Black Panthers guarding the vote;
* with UN observers watching the vote; and
* with Soros-paid Spaniards counting the vote

Yes... and I and agree with what Rush is saying now: "This is a golden opportunity for Romney... it's just sitting there on a silver platter, waiting to be grabbed."

I admit I'm a worry-wart because the MSM is NEVER on our side, but if Romney plays this right - it should be, as you say - a win-win.

My only regret is that Romney felt he could only say it in an “off the record” fudraisers (sometimes I get the feeling that Romney is Reagan without the cajones), he should be saying it loudly and proudly at every campaign event. If the Obama campaign can make this about class warfare, so can we. It’s about the workers versus the takers...

The only way this hurts him is if he apologizes for it. And, in fact, he did not apologize for it but when on record as standing firmly behind it.

Perhaps you should be asking if this is his "Sister Solja" moment. I think it may prove to be.

Obama believes that the 47% that sit home on their butts, pay no taxes, refuse to contribute to the country, and who suck up welfare are the best people in America. He believes it for re-election purposes only.

Romney knows the entitlement crowd will stick with obama for the obama bucks and the freebies. The left hates it when the truth is told.

People WANT to think of themselves as part of the 53%. The 47% Romney’s talking about is always some other guy.

You guarantee that you see yourself as part of the 53% by voting for Romney, not by being angry with Romney and voting for Obama when you weren’t necessarily considering it strongly.

However the press will be talking for days about how Romney is being divisive.

It's certainly what the media is trying. The whole "macaca" thing was a made-up outrage pushed by the Washington Post to discredit Allen.

Allen's big mistake was apologizing. He should have instead attacked the Post for making stuff up -- the second he apologized, he was toast.

"Macaca" is name-calling. The same kind of name-calling the Left does, but only the Left is allowed to do it.

47% is a number. Most of the Left don't even know what a number is.

This is EXACTLY right, and THE strategy. You don't play on the MSM's field according to their narrative, rules and "values." You stand by your [correct] statements and rub them in their face. Doing otherwise only strengthens the state-run Dem media, and makes you look weak - like a flip-flopper.

If he lets it become that moment, it could be. He has a golden opportunity (as Rush is explaining) and has in essence forced himself to step up his attack on the DNC machine, but IMO he better get on it. 0bamas’ latest speeches are by far the stupidest instances of projection yet, but this is a concept that is hard to explain to drones.

We'll be able to pinpoint the moment Mitt lost the election when he apologizes. I'd say 'if' he apologizes instead of 'when', but this is Mitt we're talking about.

And even if this doesn't stick and Mitt refuses to apologize to the 47% welfare animals, the Puppetmaster-controlled Media will twist whatever words Mitt says next and try to make macaca out of them. Repeat as necessary until the damage proves fatal.

Focus on 0bama’s track record. Forget about the noise from the 0bama shills in the media. They are just following the DNC script to demonize their opponent. Won’t work. 0bama has a horrible economic and foreign policy record, not to mention that he has turned NASA into Muslim outreach, the auto bailout was a UAW bailout to the tune of about $26 billion, the stimuli were more union payouts, “green energy” doesn’t work and shouldn’t get taxpayer billions. Forget about class warfare as that is in the Dem playbook. Republicans don’t see class, especially when looking at 0bama. Fight on the record and the economy.

Every so-called gaffe can be turned to a candidate’s advantage if he has good enough speechwriters.

Instead of apologizing or offering weak defenses for poorly chosen words, which only push a candidate’s foot further into his mouth, good speechwriters can exploit a candidate’s post-gaffe moment in the spotlight to get his message across more strongly than ever and to many more people.

Mitt Romney should be using his current moment of maximum media exposure to warn prospective voters that a 47-percent government-dependency rate, if unchecked, will lead to Greek-like bankruptcy with no country large enough to bail us out. So we must have a new president or face catastrophe.

But are Mitt and his speechwriters sounding such warnings? No. To paraphrase America’s leading school reformer of the moment who’s standing his ground in Chicago, Never let a macaca moment go to waste. Unfortunately, Mitt doesn’t get it.

Nope!

That occurred during the convention with the words: "Repeal and replace..."

That might have cost an additional percentage of the "base" to say "WTF" and decide to stay at home.

Probably there was already a substantial percent that had already decided to stay home and live with the consequences.

Make no mistake, the amerikan serfs (the 47%) have already decided that "red is better than dead"....Moreover, it's beginning to look like it will be the moslem shade of "red"...
