A popular story line on Wednesday had NBC and MSNBC dragging their collective heels in authenticating the tape of then-Illinois State Sen. Barack Obama talking in 1998 about the redistribution of wealth. Heck, every other outlet was hosting the video on its Web site and reporting the whole enchilada on its broadcast. Rush Limbaugh said that the network was “refusing to run real stories.”

Indeed. And the WaPo became a Socialist/Democrat mouthpiece after Ben Bradlee (who was Newsweek’s editor) served as JFK’s chief pimp.

They all brag about it in their biographies.

Now media defends Obama this way... but why leave out last line?

“I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level, to make sure that everybody’s got a shot,” Obama is heard saying on the clip, which then abruptly ends.
In the full recording, obtained by NBC News, Obama continues to explain in the next sentence that he is speaking broadly about making city and state government more efficient in their use of resources — and endorses “competition” in the “marketplace.”
“How do we pool resources at the same time as we decentralize delivery systems in ways that both foster competition, can work in the marketplace, and can foster innovation at the local level and can be tailored to particular communities,” he says.
The edit of the last line out of the clip earned Romney and the Republican National Committee a “four pinocchios” rating by fact checkers at the Washington Post.

It is because this article is from the Washington Post, or as Rush would call it, my memory is correct, “Washington COMpost”, Free Republic has a policy of excerpting WP articles.

This guy writes/pastes 18 paragraphs to give NBC cover for not covering anything that might reflect badly on their preferred candidate.

Yes, and the last line is as bad or worse for Obama. He is talking about the government redistribution agencies, and placing them in the marketplace where they (government programs) can be competitive.

He is NOT praising the competitiveness of the free marketplace, in fact he complains about a “propaganda campaign” against government. That would have been by the Clinton administration.

“NBC stopped doing real news when Chet Huntley died”

Although David Brinkley was accurate that time he didn’t know his mic was still on after a Clinton clip. He said, “What a putz.” Now that’s news!
