It Ainít a Zero Sum Game! ^ | September 23, 2012 | Jerry Todd, staff writer

In this conservative oil and agriculture community of Bakersfield, California high schools and carrots are living proof that business and profit aren’t a zero sum game.

What a private citizen does with his/her trait of being “poor in spirit” regardless of wealth or success is an example of efficient use of money the “progressive” or OWS’er can’t even dream of with his lust for bloated federal debt burdened dollars.

Founded in 1947, Catholic Garces Memorial High School has spent several million dollars in the last few years upgrading its campus, especially in science classrooms, chapel, landscaping and athletic facilities. They have a 100% graduation rate.

One strong motivation was recent competition – competition – you know, competition – from the new Christian High School across town in a newer area.

At my grandson’s football game I studied the bronze plaques crediting the various donors from awesome to wonderful. I noted one particular family I didn’t know had Catholic roots. Not many people know the t

wo high schools benefitted greatly from America’s number one snack food – baby carrots!

No insult to the oil men, major growers of citrus, grapes, almonds, pistachios, cotton, stone fruits and dairy products who are the mainstays of church and community support. Our junior college sports an 18,000 seat double tier stadium never touched or compromised by state or federal dollars.

Our county also boasts major aerospace and defense research facilities from Edwards AFB where Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier to the Mojave Spaceport where the first nonstop flight around the world occurred to China Lake Naval Weapons Station where the town of Ridgecrest sports the highest number of PhD’s per capita in the world…..

Quick Bako story:

We have family in northwest Bakersfield. Their school district named the elementary schools after space shuttles. So when Endeavor flew over Bakersfield the other day, the kids of Endeavor elementary lined up and spelled out a big “E” on a blacktop, to salute it.

That is because most people are too stupid to understand “supply side” economics.

They think that it means the government GIVES people money and then they are supposed to trickle it down.

What it means is that the government does not TAKE AWAY as much, because the successful business owners can spend it much more wisely creating wealth and then that leads to increased tax income.

They mocked The Laffer Curve (calling it The Giggle-Wiggle) because to them it does not make sense that lower taxes can increase income to the government.

But what they fail to get is that TOO MUCH government and taxes are like a set of brakes on the economy. A 100% tax would generate ZERO income because who would bother to work?

Odumbass in the White House thinks this too.

business and profit aren’t a zero sum game.

In a free, division of labor society, with a just government, one man's gain is other men's gain.In such a society, cooperation takes place by means of exchanges, which are strictly voluntary and entered into only in the expectation of gain by both parties. In an exchange, each party gives only in order that he may receive something he values more. Unless both parties expect to gain by it, an exchange does not take place.

Also in such a society, wealth is not static, but increases over the long run. As the capitalists and business owners get richer, the standard of living of the average wage earners also increases.
