I wanted to get the current opinion of Freepers on whether or not they believe Gary Johnson will cost Mitt Romney the election?
I am asking this because I have been seeing more and more polls as well as interest on Facebook and Twitter about Gary getting the Ron Paul voters and Independents to swing his way. A lot of them are from the legalize crowd and the others are from the Alex Jones wing.
Recent polls in Montana show Johnson picking up 2% of the vote, in places like Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada he is picking up around 3 to 5% of the vote in polls.
Romney looks like he is gonna need those 3 to 5% in those exact states to beat Obama and Johnson appears to be ready to make it impossible for him to get it. Since 1% of Dems break away to Johnson and the other 2,3,4% come from Republicans.

No. Anyone who votes for Gary Johnson is voting for Gary Johnson and would never have voted for Romney in the first place.
I never assume that your vote is owned by someone else; that is not democracy or liberty. If Mitt Romney cannot convince people to vote for him (or heck Obama can’t convince you to vote Romney) then it is nobody else’s fault but his.
If I was Obama I would slip Gary Johnson some campaign cash.

All Romney has to do is identify Gary’s love of marijuana and compare him against Obama’s anti-marijuana stance and every pothead OWS type will vote for Gary.
You are making the assumption that those votes for Johnson would have gone for Romney, if Johnson wasn't in the running.
That is a flawed assumption. They are casting a protest vote against Romney and Obama, and if they didn't have that choice, they likely wouldn't voted at all -- at least for the Presidential ticket.
Would Johnson voters vote for Romney if Johnson wasn’t on the ballot? I’m thinking most wouldn’t. I’m thinking they would either not vote, write someone in, or vote for another obscure candidate on the ballot.
Johnson will steal more votes away from 0bama than Romney. No worries on this one. Gays and potheads who don’t like 0bama will LOVE Johnson! Not many gays and potheads in the Romney camp anyway, so no worries.
Pretty sure that None of the Above would carry 50 of the 57 states.

Well, the “legalize” crowd would have to be mostly “dims” because most of them are nothing but potheads so it should actually help Milt.
Pro-drugs, pro-gay marriage Johnson will draw more votes from Obama than Romney.
If the tiny number of votes Johnson is going to get can swing a vote count to Bammy, then the vote is close enough for Bammy to cheat the rest of the way anyway.
