Yesterday, while campaigning in Ohio, Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan made a pit stop at Outdoor World to buy his 10-year-old daughter some camouflage clothing. We’re not talking about a trendy camo mini skirt. Ryan spent $101.14 on a hunting jacket and a pair of gloves for Liza to wear on her first deer-hunting trip.

“She’s going to get to go hunting this year for the first time,” Ryan told NBC News. “She’s 10 years old so she can hunt starting at 10.

“She’s been getting ready, she’s been practicing,” he added. “I just need to get her some clothes.”

Ryan also told NBC reporters that he already purchased his up-and-coming huntress a Remington 700 .243 junior model rifle last year.

Ryan fans went wild over his shopping spree and applauded him for exposing his daughter to the sport at a young age. Many responded by posting images on Twitter of their own young daughters shooting guns.

I usually don’t like soundbite politics, but compare to John Kerry:

“Can I get me ah huntin’ license heyah?”

The comments from the bed wetting liberals at SFG.com would strip bark off a tree.

You reminded me of an urban legend, I heard yrs. ago a retired Air Force Col. who was on the board of directors of the Boy Scouts was being interviewed by some bimbo from the BBC about an upcoming BSA jamboree. The Col. explained that some of the events that were planned, softball tournaments, teaching the kids survival skills, and also target shooting tournaments. As soon a he said that, the reporterette interupted whining about how dangerous it is to put a gun in a childs hands. The Col. tried to reason with her explaining that there will be NRA certified instructors present, specially trained to teach gun safety to kids. She then interupted him and stated, when you teach a child to shoot a gun you are making them into potential killers. To which the Col. replied, well ma’am when you first learned about sex, you became a potential prostitute, but you didn’t turn any tricks, have you?

The far left fringe in San Francisco would rather have a 10 y/o girl (or boy) dress in a "trendy camo mini skirt" than participate in hunting. There is no point in compromising with such people. They aspire to raise "empowered" girls like Sandra Fluke, who will do anything except pay for their own hobbies; we aspire to raise independent women like Sarah Palin who can take care of themselves and their families.

Good one...; )

I was shooting a .22 at 12 and a shotgun at 14. I was taught gun safety by my father and didn’t kill myself or turn into a serial killer. I was taught to always point it up and not at anything when I wasn’t firing it. I took my son and trained him how to use a 9mm just the same when he was 15. These pansies that are so against guns have never fired one. You could do much more damage with an automobile than you ever could with a gun yet I don’t hear a thing from them about that.

Me too, both of my young grandsons got deer {one at 15 the other at 12} and this year I took my 0 year old grand daughter target shooting with a 22.

She loved it more than I did and shot a 100 rounds.

Her first time of pulling the trigger she was at 3 o'clock one half inch from the bull.

She will be able to hunt next year but will come into the woods with us this year.

I love it.

A couple days before that, twittering libs were upset by the Palin family shooting defenseless animals for sport. Except, of course, that those animals weren’t defenseless and they were shooting for food. I’m amazed at the number of libs that think meat comes magically from a store.

Same here. My dad ran a Jr. rifle club and taught many kids how to shoot safely. On my 9th birthday I made my first trip to the range.

I have 3 sister and 2 brothers, out of that we have rooms full of awards and one of my brothers had a full NCAA rifle team 4 year scholarship. And we are all taxpayers with clean records. WOW.
