Christie to NBC’s David Gregory: ‘I wish you guys were as tough on the president’
The Daily Caller ^ | 09/30/2012 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 09/30/2012 10:44:53 AM PDT by nhwingut

On Sunday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie took a jab at moderator David Gregory and the media for being tougher on Mitt Romney than President Barack Obama ahead of this week’s presidential debate.

“David, I wish you guys were just as tough on the president,” Christie said. “The president says he’s going to create a million new manufacturing jobs. He doesn’t say how. He says he’s going to reduce the long-term debt and deficit by $4 trillion. Doesn’t say how he’s going to do it. I mean, let’s be fair here. Gov. Romney has laid out a direction and a vision for the direction of this country. He’s not an accountant. He is not going to go line-by-line — as much as you would like him to do — through the budget. But let’s hold the president to the same standard and criticize him as well, because how does he create a million new manufacturing jobs, David? He hasn’t told anybody the specifics of that. How is he going to reduce $4 trillion in debt? We’re still waiting to hear what he thinks about Simpson-Bowles, which he commissioned. I mean, he’s been the president and hasn’t given us specifics. So, let’s be fair, here.”

Pat Caddell quote on MSM role in the campaign

“We have a political campaign where, to put the best metaphor I can on it, where the referees on the field are sacking the quarterback of one team, tripping up their runners, throwing their bodies in front of blockers, and nobody says anything.”

I know many here don’t like Christie, and there are things I don’t agree with him, but he’s got the fight. He stays on the offensive. That’s what wins.

I would love to see him out front and center in the media between now and Election Day.

Christie ‘I wish you guys were as tough on the president’

They are not and do not ever want to become fact checkers.

Tom Wolfe's book Radical Chic & Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers described people like the MSM employees.. i.e., radical ideologues.

The flak catchers were people assigned to meet with demonstrators (the ideologues) and take their abuse.

The demonstrators and their ideological issue today are mau-mauing flak chuckers working for the establishment MSM and protecting fellow ideologues like Obama.

The aforementioned 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brats who were celebrated in the establishment MSM as the most intelligent generation ever!. They are now that very establishment that praised them and they hold themselves and their ideological issue in even higher regard.

The biggest story in this campaign, and in 2008, is the media. I would love to see prominent members of the MSM be interviewed be the Free Media (Breitbart, etc.), on their bias during these critical times.

LOL! Christie asking NBC to be fair.

Christie didn't ask NBC to do anything. He exposed them for not doing so - and on their own show. Good for him.

Don't take the liberal's bait. Race Bait or any other kind.

Don't engage them on the "facts" or issues they bring up until you vet them. Who are they? What is their credibility? Who pays them and who has paid them? Unless they can prove that they are not inveterate liars, paid operatives and aren't nuttier than squirrel poop based on their past history there is no reason to discuss anything with them that they bring up. The press is the enemy and should be treated accordingly.

Pat Caddell slams the media: They have become an “enemy of the people” (video 26:00)

That was a good book, one of Wolfe's better chronicles. The essay on "radical chic" has current relevance as well, considering how obama got into office.

That would either be some amazing and excellent television or more or the usual propaganda of their interviewing each other masquerading as commentary.

David Gregory is not able to comprehend what Christie is saying.....

That is what almost haunts me. These guys behave as though they have Stockholm Syndrome or something similar. Some of them REALLY DO NOT understand how biased and blind they are..they are incapable of seeing anything other than their own view.

Since conservative thought is so roundly dismissed in chic circles, colleges and universities, even beginning in elementary and high school, journalists have no idea there are other actual points of view.

Conservatives and libertarians are used to having to defend and discuss WHAT we think, WHY we think it and so we do not mind having debates on the merits of our ideas. We've had to think them through over time. At least I have. The first time I was thrashed in a debate with a lib friend I realized I couldn't articulate my beliefs clearly so I got serious about learning who, what, when, where and WHY!

The David Gregory's of our world are insulated in a little self-congratulatory circle.
