It’s a curious thing...the masses will believe and accept almost anything. IIRC Mussolini came to power, partly because of his promise to “make the trains run on time.” The ultimate fascist got to where he was by making a simple promise.

It appears that Obama is more fascist than socialist. He prefers to threaten and extort private enterprise to do his bidding (ala the GM premium bond holders, BP into paying a $10B damage fund, subvertly forcing thousands of car dealers out of business, etc.). That isn’t to say he is not a socialist at heart; his policies for constituent support are redistributionist and socialist.

He just prefers, I think, that one extra bit of separation between owning and controlling business from behind (like his foreign policy). It is easier to lay blame on business if things go south, even though you functionally run it. The media lapdogs are more than willing to overlook that connection.
