Former presidential contender and billionaire Ross Perot is worried that America is a sitting duck for an unnamed foreign invader. In an interview for his new autobiography, Perot said the nation's weak economy has left us open for a hostile takeover—and neither presidential candidate is the man to save the country.
Citing an impending fiscal cliff, Perot warned of disaster. "If we are that weak, just think of who wants to come here first and take us over," the former CEO of info-tech company Perot Systems told USA Today on Monday.
"The last thing I ever want to see is our country taken over because we're so financially weak, we can't do anything," Perot says.

According to all I read here at FR, the votes for Perot in '92 came from people who would otherwise have voted for Bush. Has the GOP ever stopped to think just WHY they lost 19% of the electorate in '92?
What an idiot. HE could have easily become president had he just stayed in the race. Instead he got Clinton elected by pulling out the day of his DNC speech. Damn him to hell for that.

I'm sure they have and if the rest of the 19% is anything like the Perot voters I knew it was because Ross appealed to the more idiotic.
Truly...these people were captivated by the "charisma" of Perot and nothing else...no reason involved.

The US conventional military is at least as powerful as that of the rest of the world put together. While we couldn’t conquer the rest of the world with our present conventional forces, we most certainly could repel an invasion by the rest of the world. And of course there is no way the rest of the world would join into a coalition against us.
Our Navy is quite literally beyond compare. A recent thread was obsessing about the Chinese getting a single carrier, which they may or may not be able to use effectively. Operating a carrier group is perhaps the most complex routine operation ever undertaken in the history of mankind. I believe we have 11 or 12 fully functional carrier groups.
If a country has nukes, which we do, then conventional military forces are more or less irrelevant when it comes to resisting invasion.
Unless either Canada or Mexico is going to invade and conquer us, which doesn’t seem particularly likely, anybody who invades will have to come by sea. How they gonna get here? It’s an awful long way on an inner tube or an oil tanker.
Assuming he’s talking about a US fiscal collapse, which is of course quite possible, then the world economy will go down with us. There is no conceivable scenario by which the US economy collapses but the Chinese economy thrives, at least in the short term.
When it comes to foreign debt, I always think of some comedian who was discussing the Chinese buying up our debt and what might happen when they try to collect it when we go past due.
China: We want our money.
US: We don’t have it.
China: We want our money. If you don’t give it to us we’ll take it. What did you spend it all on anyway?
US: Well, mostly on all these missiles with nuclear warheads...
China: Never mind.
Exactly how is anyone going to go about “collecting” a debt we can’t or won’t pay?
Looking at the candidates fielded by the GOP since '92, I just don't see it.
