I bought and gave away cases of this book. What struck me was the price.

I emailed my children and told them that now might be the time to sell their signed copies.

Unintended Consequences and Term Limits are two of my favorite books. They should be required reading as well as 1984 and Brave New World.

Despite its “blue” content, it is still one of my favorite books of all time.

A fellow Freeper turned me on to this book a couple of years ago. Gotta say that it was so good that I could hardly put it down. I think it would resonate with any patriot.

I’ve read it several times. I bought it for cash at a gun show.

This is easily my favorite book in the genre and in my top 25 books regardless of Genre. Not without flaws, but it really works.

Best book I have ever read.
Written by a Missouri democrat.
I have a copy in real life, and in a PDF file.
John Ross is the modern day Nostradamus.
I’d love to go shooting with him someday.

I just woke up (worked graveyard last night) and got online. I can do a search of my pings to find it from the kind FReeper who sent me the link for download. I don’t know if it’s still active, though.

The actual book runs for $200 last I checked.
The 1996 edition was also running for (sit down) $2,000.

I have a signed copy of the 1996 edition. Perhaps it is time to sell it.

I have a copy somewhere in this house, but I don’t know which edition it is. I bought and read it back in 1999.

Found the first edition signed by John Ross. It is in very good condition, in the original box from John Ross’ address with the address to me in John Ross’ handwritting.

I wonder what it is worth...

The first edition had a very small run, as John Ross made some corrections in the next run, which would correctly be the second edition.

I do not think there was ever a third editon, though there were a few printings of the second.

Methinks the “blue” content - more “black and blue” - is necessary for setting the characters up with a past which pushed them far enough that they were willing to push back when pushed again. Most people are unwilling to take certain steps as a rational choice unless they’ve been forced into similar actions under less rational conditions.

For those unwilling to read the entire 800+ pages, I suggest reading the last 100 pages (where the opening scene actually begins) first. The prior 700 pages form the rock-solid backstory gearing up to that scenario. As I just said, those actions by the characters (while engaging) are not understandable until you know what happened to get them past certain normal psychological barriers; the excitement of the final scene may persuade you to read the backstory.

Excellent analysis. Much better said than my own thoughts, which while in agreement, had not been as organized as yours. Good work.

I've never appreciated the “gun culture”’s importance to liberty until reading this engaging book, which through historical fact reveals the ineptness, corruption and abuse of authority of various branches of the Federal government. If you don't value the Second Amendment, this book — down-loadable as a PDF — will change your thinking.
