The Real Debate: The Good Father vs. The Abandoned Son
PJ Media ^ | 10-06-2012 | Roger L. Simon

Forgive me for rehashing Wednesday night’s debate yet again, but some of the postmortems impel me to do so.

I’m not talking about the comical excuses for Obama’s failure like the poor fellow who thought Mitt Romney was carrying a crib sheet and then had to admit it was a handkerchief. Or the well-known massage enthusiast who argued the difference between the candidates was due to the Denver altitude as if this were not a presidential debate but an abruptly scheduled NBA doubleheader.

No, I’m talking about the more serious explanations for the president’s incompetence – that Obama was either over-confident (and therefore unprepared) or bored or both. Many have explained his body language that way, not to mention his meandering answers.

I doubt the president was over-confident, nor do I think he underestimated Romney.

I have quite a different explanation.

Barack Obama was afraid. In fact, on a certain level he was petrified.

Now I admit I have been making my living most of my life as a novelist and a screenwriter, so I may be no more than “creating characters” here, but consider this:

What we have before us in these debates is an almost archetypal confrontation – between a man who was and is an exceptionally good father and a man who was deserted by his.

Good fathering is the story of Mitt Romney’s life. He has five sons who are, by all accounts, devoted to him and vice-versa. These boys grew up with a father who, although wealthy and successful, worked like a demon, doted on them, and apparently devoted an extraordinary amount of time to charitable work, in which he also involved them. Indeed, I’ve never heard of a politician who did anything quite like it.

It was so obvious that Mitt’s direct, withering criticism knocked the wind out of Zero badly. From that point on, Zero
couldn’t think or speak clearly or fight back.
The blistering criticism was made even worse because deep in his tiny black heart, Zero knew it was true and he was embarrassed to be exposed in front of millions of people.
Mitt must do this even harder at the next debate!

There may be something to this. Romney is well-grounded in the traditional nuclear-family structure and his traditional qualities shine through. Obama, on the other hand, has had mostly everything handed to him and has never had to actually stand toe-to-toe with someone who can take the fight to him.

Obama may indeed have been peeing his pants with fear.

BO is afraid of men like Romney and Netanyatu. Why won't he meet with experienced leaders face to face. He's scared. He's not, however, afraid to go on the View to be “eye candy” with a bunch of adoring women or go on Pimp the limp- or whatever his name is who is also a fawning, adoring nothing. The more nothing the hosts are, the more confident BO is. David Letterman is nothing but a vile, crass liberal that would shake in his boots if he crossed Obama. BO knows this, so it makes him look good to be with these weak, adoring celebrities. World leaders, BO can't handle because they make him look weak and ineffective.

The candidate with a higher character than Obama is hardly a ringing endorsement. There are a lot of reasons to vote for Romney but I don’t know anyone that is doing it because he is such an upstanding person.

“Barack Obama was afraid. In fact, on a certain level he was petrified.”

“Petrified” is probably it. Basically, for four years he’d participated only in relatively friendly situations. This debate was Real Life, and he knew his normal shuckin’ ‘n’ jivin’ wasn’t going to impress anyone. People expected serious, well-thought-out responses, and he couldn’t do it; the potential didn’t even exist for that considering his drug-addled brain and general ignorance. But I don’t mean any of that in a BAD way. :D

Say whatever about Romney the politician.

Romney the man/husband/father/community member/ philanthropist etc has by all accounts lived an exemplary life.

We know about his life, too. Does not have to keep it hidden like Obama hides his.

Can assure you that he grades so much higher on those points than Obama does, it’s not even close.

But is that WHY most people are voting for him?

Of course not.

They want to stop the utter destruction of their country.

Even for those who are offended and offput by Mormonism, they need to admit that Mormonism is not anti American. And I’m talking current, establishment Mormonism, not a cult of some who believe in Polygamy and flout the laws. But Obama’s Jeremiah Wright based religion is clearly anti American, anti semitic and racist.

Possibly the most coherent explanation for the exposed commie bastard ... and in its own way, one of the best reasons for voting Romney in to run the country for the next four years. I mean, who in their adult mind wants an affirmative action pot-addled racist when we can have a genuine father figure running things and representing US to the global community which is decidely ‘european socialist’ in nature?
