True story at a Ford dealership

Tom Selkis' (Latham Ford) True story recently at the dealership.....

"I'll try to make this as short and to the point as I can. One of my salesmen here had a woman in his office yesterday wanting to lease a brand new Focus.

As he was reviewing her credit app with her he noticed she was on social security disability. He said to her you don't look like you're disabled. She said "well I'm really not, I could work if I wanted to but I make more now then I did when I was working and got hurt" (non-disabling injury).

She said the gov't sends her $1500.00 a month in 1 check; she gets $700.00 a month on an EBTcard (food stamps), and $800.00 a month for rent. Oh yeah and 250 mins free on her phone. That is just south of $3500.00 a month. When she was working she was taking home about $330.00 per week. Do the math and then ask yourself: "why the hell should she go back to work?"

If you multiply that by millions of people you start to realize the scope of the problem we face as a country.

Once the socialists have 51% of the population in that same scenario we are finished........ *and we are real, real close*. The question is: when do we cross that threshold if we haven't already?

She didn't lease the Focus here because the dealer down the road beat our deal by $10.00 month. *Glad to know she is so frugal with her hard earned money!*

Why is someone on Social Security Disability leasing a Focus? I make $134k/yr, have a mortgage free home and drive a 2001 Corolla. I suppose if I was in a position where frugality was pointless, I’d piss government money away, too.

While I was paying cash for a few things at the store today, the cashier next to mine was having trouble getting a WIC check to go through for a young gal that had a huge ring in her nose, aand about 6 other facial piercings with jeweled adornment..

Felt those little hairs on the back of my neck standing up again

Why didn't she go lease an electric car from GM (government motors)? She probably would have been given the car, on the actual taxpayer's back.

My point in posting that is to pass the word to as many people as possible. So many people in this country are NOT aware of what’s going on. And we are very near the point of no return.

I don’t care why she does that or whatever. What I care about is that when the 50% will be reached we are done with no way back EVER. And we are dangerously close of that deadly number.

So please send that to all your mailing list. It is really urgent we warn as many people as we can.

Make it viral

Thank you :-)

Well, on the positive side, it’s a win/win proposition for Obama and the democrats.

She becomes a loyal democrat voter, for life.

And, she’ll be spending the money, which is what the democrats say will stimulate the economy.

Those are the wins for the democrats.

Now, on the opposite side, the democrats will never mention that, she’s taking from the productive people who continue laboring for their lifestyles.

Also, the democrats will never mention that, productivity, as far as the lady is concerned, and as far as all of the other freeloaders is concerned, has been taken out of the economic equation, which means that, there will be less production and a smaller economy, and eventually, less in taxes being collected, which means that, in the long run, that lady and the other freeloaders will have to take “pay” cuts, and eventually, they’ll end up on the street begging and loving our of cardboard boxes, with, NO CARS, and very little food, if any.

But you did - I bet because you have HONOR and a CONSCIOUS and if you did mooch like these people do, you'd feel a whole lot worse feeling guilty, than you do feeling stupid.

That's the difference between us and them.

Those who aren’t in that scenario but approve of it push support for socialism way over 51%.

To your point, the Republicans in congress don’t tell of the obvious much, either.

51%. That’s their goal and it’s over.

Thanks, Boehner. For all your effort.

One of the 47% Mitt spoke of.

my story is similar, once at my allergist getting "retested," a lady told me she was on full-time disability from her job at the Post Office............she was allergic to......glue!

Other than that allergy, she was a healthy 39 year old that you and I are paying to stay at home, in the mall, going to the park, to the casino, and wherever else she spends her time!

The email is BS. If she is getting that much in SSDI she was making much more than $330.00 per week. Perhaps she had a high paying job at one time but the email does not indicate that.

It seems to be SOP, have noticed, after ringing up a couple hundred dollars worth of nothing but steaks, chops, etc, and paying with someone else’s rapidly devaluing money, to have a stocker carry it out to their car for them. They think it’s real funny, no doubt.

I used to get old Dodge Darts as my $100 cars that last forever. Unfortunately, that stopped working when I moved to Illinois, where Road Salt is the state's main crop for 5 months a year. Body cancer sets in real fast, even with undercarriage washing.

And no, Mercedes-Benz cars aren't immune.

Nice car, by the way. Stately.

I agree with you. The story just doesn’t sound right.

When I first got out of college and married, I worked for two years as a claims rep for Social Security. This was back in the early 70s.

SS Disability was really difficult to get. I would guess 90% of people who applied were turned down. After being denied one could file for a re-consideration. Practically no one ever got it on that.

Nearly every one who was approved, was by the administrative law judge after a hearing. I think they made the process long and drawn out to weed out as many as they could.

Ha...I was asking myself the same question. Pride or not I am not so sure I would say no to such a sweet deal!!! BUT I would still vote republican. Dumb and dumber. Seriously - I was born in France. I can tell you that this story is true in France anyway. I am so sure obama worked hard to make it true here also. That's his for ever voting base.

Best looking $100 car I’ve ever seen right there!

Back in the good ol’ days, I knew some guys that always had junk cars around. I would just buy me a mid-1970s model LTD or Impala for $100-$500 and drive until it falls apart. Not exactly a babe magnet or anything, but it would get you there! I’d usually get about a year or so out of one. I’d always keep the title in the glove compartment for when they finally went down good, I’d just sign the thing and put it up on the dash for the tow truck operator. That’s still pretty dammed awesome when comparing to the $800 per month car payment we have now! lol

$3500 a month. That’s $42,000 a year. Which ain’t bad, right? But .... how much would you have to earn *pre-tax* to take home $42K? Depending on a bunch of factors it could depend on a lot of things but it might be as much as $70K. And not mentioned here is the cost and value of health insurance. Basically that’s part of this woman’s “package”. The real value of this deal is maybe north of $80K.

Just as an observer of life and not a disputer of facts, I find those benefits and high amounts questionable for a single person on Social Security Disability.

My gut tells me the lady was "inflating" her income in order to qualify for the lease.

Since I'm retired, I sometimes watch a bit of daytime tv. Shows like Maury and Springer are full of adverts from attorneys soliciting SSDI claims. It's lucrative for them to take these cases forward.

"You've paid into this program your entire working life, now it's time to get the benefits you are owed"

Once you're on SSDI, I believe you are automatically eligible for food stamps and Medicaid. If you're on food stamps, you get an Obamaphone.

I think you partially answered your own question, 1970’s vs the 2008 - present. A huge difference I’ve found. I’ve known several people who have managed to get on SSDI, and it usually takes more than one go around to do it but once they do in my neck of the woods which is very rural, getting on SS disability is considered the Brass ring on the Carousel of welfare. You are set for life!

And yes, it pisses me off to no end too.

Not true anymore, accordng to my neighbor who makes his living as an "expert witness" in SS hearings. It is a rare judge who calls in a witness to take the side of the SS Admin. We were talking about this last week. He's a Psychologist with a jillion additional degrees and teaches at the Medical College here, but the bulk of his income comes from his SS testimony. Even when my friend tesifies, the case generally is settled by arbitration. In cases like that, the plaintiff generally gets a positive settlement.

My husband had this happen early spring...woman in a nice long leather coat ringing up lobster and steak in the self-checkout line. My husband was next in line behind her...woman left her receipt behind, and on it was the balance remaining on the her bridge card. My husband rang up his couple of items and went out to parking lot where the woman was getting into an Escalade! My DH and I live frugally by choice...we work hard, forgoing ‘luxuries’ so we could pay off our cars and house. We only got our first cell phones—and they are cheapo Trac phones—last fall for emergencies. We live debt-free so other folks could engage in this behavior?!?

Ask the Obama phone lady..

Disability. Fake some sort of mental disorder. Hard to prove you don’t have it. Or live at McDonalds. Being fat will work. (gets you a parking permit for your new Focus as well)

Food stamps? Apply, quit your job first.

Other goodies? Once you get one goodie flowing, the others are easy. If you qualify for one, you pretty much qualify for all of them.

You are asking the wrong questions.

Just look at how many different government programs she qualifies for! She is a virtual goldmine, for government assistance program employees.
Without her, they would all lose their jobs!
I bet she listens very carefully to their coaching questions and answers correctly often enough to score an “A” on the entitlements tests and re-qualifications

She is probably Caucasion ,Hispanic/Latino or Asian. Black women, for whatever reasons, tend to miss absolute bureaucratic deadlines for re-qualifications, and struggle harder to milk the entitlement system to the fullest degree possible.

If one is actually physically and/or mentally disabled, it's extremely hard to “qualify” for all the “benefits” for which you are supposedly entitled.
The government bureaucrats don't WANT to deal with your type, because you probably won't understand how the system is supposed to work to their benefit first, and then trickle down to benefit you, pretty much as an afterthought.

Story is B.S.

Two points:

For many individuals validly disabled there is nothing about their outward appearance that would tell you that. A disability condition doesn’t necessarily have to entail loss of limbs or such. In fact, sometimes the people who look disabled really aren’t. A person might have one good day in 30 and chooses to go out that day; people say “Oh look, that person gets about just fine”.

Most people on federal SNAP just had benefits reduced by about 40%. Family of four can be down to about $250/month with a few thousand dollars of income.

The other scam I have seen is someone hanging out by a grocery store entrance; I’ve had offers upon the person seeing my shopping list to buy my food and then I pay with cash when they come out.
It looks like food purchases on the EBT, and the person is money laundering. I always refuse, but I wonder how many take up the offer.
