During a campaign stop in Athens, Ohio, on Saturday September 8, Vice President Joe Biden said the last time he was in the town, playing against the Ohio University football team on October 19, 1963, he almost got arrested for walking into a girls’ dormitory.
It’s a good story. It’s just not true… at all.
Shawn at Free Republic discovered that Joe Biden did not play football at the University of Delaware in 1961, 1962, 1963, or 1964, according to past yearbooks.
The 1984 University of Delaware yearbook included an interview with Joe Biden. It’s Biden first ever interview were he talks about his “triple major” (later during Biden’s 1988 presidential campaign he admitted he lied and had two majors, not three) and playing “intramural football” (flag football). There is no mention about him playing college football.

In the University of Delaware’s online news service, UDaily, Biden wrote this in which he is the sole source (so take it with a grain of salt):
Joe Biden once said he came to the University of Delaware in 1961 as a “half-baked halfback,” playing on the freshman football team that year under the late Scotty Duncan, and the Democratic vice presidential candidate remains a big fan of the Fightin’ Blue Hens.
But even this account is doubtful because on page 162 in the sports section of Delaware University’s 1961 yearbook, Biden is not listed on the freshman football team’s roster.
Joe Biden said he played football at the University of Delaware and that he almost got arrested after a game in Ohio.
It’s just not true.

According to Wikipedia, he played on a freshman football team (I’ve not heard of such a thing before, but it sounds liek they had a separate team for freshman that played it’s own schedule:

Think there is a link in the article to the ‘61 freshman team with coach Duncan.
Biden not in the photo or listed on the team.
Also no Biden on any yearbook football team.
Well, at least he graduated, if true. More than we can say about his boss.
That story by Tony Lee came a day after the post here were I listed all the links to the yearbooks and 61’ team photo. We were a day before Breitbart.
I know because I posted the links and sent to Tony Lee next day.
I don’t believe the Wikipedia entry is accurate. It gets information from a single article that itself was just a reference to something Biden claimed. Brietbart’s article from two weeks ago was a clear refutation of this, pointing out that Biden himself has admitted he didn’t play college football, and that when he thought about going for the team his junior year, he hadn’t played for 2 years.
It is true that Biden was a decent high school football player, and he probably could have made the delaware team, which wasn’t really all that good.
In the alumni article above he says he tripled majored. This was 1 of many reasons he dropped out of the 1988 presidential race after it was found out he had 2 majors.
Also no mention he played college football in the alumni article in 1984.
You would first need the Archmere Academy High School yearbooks to see if he was even on the team let alone good.
the article stated that he played itermural....that means with and against other students in his school....I don’t see where he claimed anything else.
Well at least plugs can be FOUND at his school. Hussein is still a mystery to the people who actually attended Columbia!

Inconclusive! When you get down to freshman teams, it can be sketchy. Maybe he quit, or just stopped showing up. I wouldn't press this one too hard.
Biden been doing 5 college campaign stops a week for 2 years and often talks about his college football days. He wasn’t there in 61’ team and didn’t play as a freshman. Also he states he played intramural football in the 1984 alumni yearbook.
He most certainly was not on the team in 1963 when they beat Ohio as he claimed in Athens Ohio a month ago.

OK. The most generous I can be is that he went out for freshman football, and his story about giving up football for love indicates that he dropped out at that level.
He meet his love/ wife in summer of 64’ while the were both on school break in Mexico.
Biden registered for the draft feb. 15, 1961 Biden received 5 deferments and listed asthma as reason for deferments and reason not able to play football.
Would look silly if he played football while listing asthma as reason to avoid Vietnam war.
There has to be something seriously wrong with politicians.
And why on earth do we keep voting for them?
At this point maybe we should just pick them out of a hat. Most normal people I know don’t lie about every single thing in their life. Politicians must be sick in the head to need to lie about the most inconsequential things in life.
