Synopsis: In The Monkey Trial, author Chuck Morse examines the political and social consequences of the Theory of Evolution. Using the closing statement of William Jennings Bryan in the Scopes Trial, the Monkey Trial, known as the trial of the century, Morse highlights the relevance and impact of the theory of evolution on society today. While the author questions the science of evolution, the emphasis of this book is on the post-evolutionary emergence of Eugenics, Nazism, and Communism and the role that the Theory of Evolution played in the development of those social and political movements.
Bio: Chuck Morse is the host of the nationally syndicated radio talk show "Chuck Morse Speaks" and is the author of "The Nazi Connection to Islamic Terrorism" published by WND Books, "A Whig Manifesto" published by TrineDay Books. Morse published columns have appeared in The Boston Globe, The Washington Times, The Providence Journal, WND, Newsmax and elsewhere. Morse, who lives in Boston with his family, ran for Congress in 2004 against Rep. Barney Frank.
There is a very subtle change in today from the Scopes monkey trial. Back then, the big holy progressive cause, was that a teacher should be free to teach according to his conscience and best knowledge. The state should NOT be allowed to prosecute him for teaching evolution.
Today, they argue the exact opposite. If a teacher wants to even discuss evolution vs creation, or even address problems in evolution as it is interpreted by pop culture, the progressives argue that it should be illegal, that the teacher must only discuss what the state allows him. This is the exact opposite of their position in scopes that the teacher should be free of such interference.
