The Bayou Corne sinkhole is truly a historical event, unprecedented globally, according to a geologist who addressed a group of residents, evacuees and others Tuesday night in Pierre Part at a briefing high with emotions at times, such as when the mandatory evacuation issue was addressed. "In the history of this type of event, this is very unique,” said Dr. Gary Hecox, geologist with Shaw Environmental stated at the resident meeting Tuesday night. Upset citizens fired one after another question after the officials gave presentation updating the locals with their latest updates about the disaster. “Nobody ever dealt with something like this,” said Hecox, technical advisor with Shaw Environmental Group that has been contracted by Louisiana Department of Natural Resources to help attempt to manage the monster sinkhole, area leaking gases and crude, and earthquakes plaguing nearby communities for over four months.

I hope these Examiner.com reporters are doing this for free. This is some of the worst reporting I’ve seen in a while:
“Probably there would not be more sinkholes forming. Instead, if anything, the existing sinkhole would just get bigger, according to Hecox. Even another official on Tuesday night, however, questioned that, and tried to obtain more information.
“There is no cookbook,” he stated matter-of-factly. “There’s not even any decent case studies people how to proceed when you’ve had a cavern collapse 5,00 feet below ground, you’ve had to frack out to the surface in the form of a sinkhole, and you have natural gas and crude oil coming in and bubbling up all over.”
“Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night wondering if they are going to give us money to relocate or what they are going to do” said Donald Gros a resident of Bayou Corne.
Well Donald I’ve got your answer.
Figure it out for yourself cause we ain’t got no more frickin money to give away.
I guess I’m just A cold hearted uncaring person.

It is intended to be confused with the Washington Examiner.
Less than 2 weeks and we can get rid of the stinkhole in DC.
That writing is demonstrative of the increasing illiteracy of our population. What the heck are the nincompoops saying?
Perhaps it’s an exact quote, in which case mangled grammar and all it’s not the reporter’s fault.
Didn’t CCR have a song about Cornhole on the bayou?

This is nothing but a blog entry.
The Examiner literally lets ~anybody~ with a computer become one of its “reporters.”
Their standards are non-existent and their content is largely crap - QED.
Geez. The cajuns used to be some of the most self-sufficient people in the country, not relying on the government or anybody outside the bayou for much of anything. What happened?
Umm... If they’ve had a massive failure in a salt dome, that’s gonna be a problem.
I wonder whether they’ve ben able to de-inventory the thing? This is pretty sketchy reporting.
Texas Brine officials told the audience they have removed most of the crude oil from inside the failed cavern. They say so far the company has removed 2,600 barrels of crude oil from inside the cavern and close to 600 barrells so far from on top of the sinkhole. Clean up work around the sinkhole continues. The company plans to add 7 geoprobes around the Bayou Corne community in approximately two weeks.

I have not found the original volume of cavern #3, but a previous article stated they had the majority removed when they had recovered ~1,500 barrels.
