I got a shout out a few days ago from Nicole Ostil, nee Gomes, who responded to a piece I wrote not so long ago in which I criticized the 24-year-old wife and mother for going on the Internet and asking strange men to help her pay for breast implants.
Thank you for your personal insights, she wrote, adding, she is actually quite flattered at all the controversy stirred up by new media writers like yours truly.
For some reason, Nicole felt it necessary to stress to me that the web site on which she solicited her cosmetic surgery, MyFreeImplants.com, wasnt a new site I created.
In fact, she said, it was her husband who first chanced upon the site. We thought it was a joke, she related, and then decided that I could give it a try.
Neither Nicole nor her husband see anything wrong with what shes doing. After all, she said, I dont have to porn up.
The young woman, a graphic designer, an aspiring model, took particular umbrage at the suggestion that her willingness to go to such extreme lengths for bigger breasts suggests a self esteem issue.
If things are the way that you suggest, she wrote, then dying your hair, wearing make up, or getting your nails done means you have a bad self image.
Finally, she closed, I have never seen a more judgmental group of people anywhere like the Christ followers who dared to suggest that what she is doing is unGodly. Im sorry, she said, that all of you feel the need to impose your own beliefs on others.
My first reaction to Nicoles response was joy. Because I believe it to be a tell-tale sign that she has been convicted by the Holy Spirit; that He is trying to save her from the snares of this fallen world, which tempts young women particularly those blessed with beauty to trade upon their physical attributes.
The Christians I know do not seek to impose their own beliefs on others, but to stand up for Gods law, which is set forth in His Word. They are not judgmental, condemning sinners to hell. But they speak the truth in love, calling sinners to repentance.
This particular Christian thinks there absolutely nothing wrong with a woman dying her hair, wearing make-up or having her nails manicured.
I dont even have a problem with women who have breast implants, which I consider a disputable matter, in the words of the Apostle Paul, on which faithful Christians can respectfully differ.
My quarrel with Nicole whose days are spent in college, at work and at the gym, who says that she views breast implants as another way that I can improve myself is the way she has gone about earning the money for her surgery.
I maintain that no self-respecting wife and mom would be so desperate for larger breasts that she would ask a man other than her husband to pay for them.
If I pay for them, I claim recreational use.
Sounds like a person who revolves their life around their lady parts.
Shallow as a shadow.
This is what we have come to, that expressing one's opinion is somehow "imposing" your beliefs on someone.
She wants bigger boobs? Have a couple of kids and wait ten years.
kind of like an easement combined with a timeshare?
All I have to say is what’s the point, why does a woman want to change how she is? Even as a man, I find a lot of the stuff some women want to augment about their bodies pretty disgusting, I mean, I’ll just say that the woman looked fine as her original self. I can understand getting your face surgically fixed to make severe scars less noticeable, but some of the things suggest some women have severe obsessions/addictions to somehow never scoring high enough with themselves, which is pretty disturbing.
I saw a BBC show about myfreeimplants.com a couple of years ago. It’s certainly odd, but I think it’s a symptom not a cause. We know there’s a big chunk of women out there whose self esteem is lowered because their breasts are small, it’s silly, it’s sad, but they were there long before the internet. Somebody figured out a way for them to beg for money to get them bigger, again kind of silly, maybe sad too. What I find funny is that the site pre-dates kickstarter, which is basically the same thing only for venture capital.
“Right or wrong” is meaningless with liberals. They are nothing but a materialistic narcissist bunch of jerks.
It's not the boobs that make the beauty, it's the inner beauty that makes the beauty.
Ladies, take note, only a boob looks at woman's chest first...
Women cut open their flesh and stuff foreign objects inside.
That’s just embarrassing.
Bigger, not just longer ;)
I certainly would not contribute any of my money to this "enterprise".
This young woman doesn’t need bigger boobs, she is a big boob. So is her idiot husband.
Something tells me they are both Obama supporters.
She is actually quite flattened, I think that is the situation.
kind of like an easement combined with a timeshare?
....more like pay to play....
and viewing and visitation rights....
We have two friends who had to have breast reduction surgery within the past couple of years because of back pain and another who is considering doing the same thing. Theirs were natural breasts, so this gal had better think before doing that.
I’ll be honest, and say that my wife wasn’t some ideal “Hollywood Beauty” but it would disturb me immensely if she felt some need to alter herself like that, in fact, we would probably be on the brink of ending our marriage if she was considering that. I couldn’t agree with you more about the “inner beauty” part too., in fact, after the long period of breaking up with a lot of women, the fun and enjoyment of seeing how smart and kind of a person she was made all the difference, and won my heart right then and there.
