I will be a Poll Watcher, Will You?

For the last two elections, I have been a poll watcher for the Republican party. There are never enough volunteers, even though it is one of the most important and effective things you can do to protect our Constitution and society.

The clearest thing that we saw, was that when we had poll watchers in place, the voting percentages changed significantly in favor of Republicans.

In Yuma, as in many counties around the country, there has been a history of suspected fraud on the part of Democrats. In Yuma, it is mostly concerned with cross border voting and intimidation of voters who do not speak english well.

There were several polling places that we were most concerned about, and that is where we concentrated the available poll watcher.

Each state has rules about what is allowed at the polls. Usually, campaigning is not allowed within 75 feet of the polling place. Someone can help someone vote, but they cannot do it repeatedly. Election officials are to check that voting is done according to the rules, with voters checked off the rolls, and proper ID asked for where it is required.

I only saw small violations of the rules when I watched the polls, but it was clear that I was watching. I highly recommend carrying a clipboard and taking notes. Do not sit back in a corner where you cannot see what is going on.

In our state, once you leave the poll, you cannot reenter, so make sure that you can access the restrooms without leaving the poll (poll workers have to do this as well). Bring enough refreshments to last through the time that you will be there. I was there for 14 hours because of the lack of volunteers.

Becoming a poll watcher is easy. Contact your local Republican (or Liberterian) organization and volunteer. You should be given a breifing on the rules and a place and time to do your poll watching. It is not difficult work, but it is extremely important.

It is most important in those areas dominated by Obama supporters. This is where you can make a difference far beyond your single vote. If you are feeling as though you do not make a difference, this is where you can make a significant difference.

One day of your time, that is what is required.

On next Tuesday, I will be at a Poll, watching, with clipboard in hand.

Where will you be?

I’ll be there as a Republican judge on Tues in KY. Although I don’t believe we’ll have a bunch of shenanigans here as we are fairly solid Red. Voted today, and added another vote for Mitt.
I don’t think it’s going to be all that close. I believe we’ll be able to start laughing at the Media pretty early. They are going to be fun to watch.

You don’t think it’s too late?

Probably not. Our training is going to be at noon on Saturday.

Call your local Republican Party organization, and they can get you fixed up. We always need more volunteers. A few more mean that the shifts can be shorter, and/or more polls can be covered.

Turned out to be a farce anyway. My credentials never arrived at the local Republican HQ. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway. The local REPUBLICAN Supervisor of Elections never vetted the volunteers who did get their packages. Orca volunteers were not allowed anywhere near the poll workers.
