CIA Director David Petraeus today submitted his letter of resignation to President Obama. The move was announced in a statement by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. The excuse he has cited is an extra-marital affair. I’m not buying it. The timing just before some of the the most serious Congressional hearings of our time, (the Benghazi hearings) next week, is more than intriguing.

He says that he is looking forward to testifying BEHIND CLOSED DOORS NEXT WEEK IN THE HOUSE... something tells me he will not look forward to it once he is there. This guys smells dirty and anyone with obama is dirty... blackmailed by axlerod to keep Benghazi from bringing jug ears down? Something even worse?

I bet he is going to sing like a bird and over a lot of things a la John Dean. I bet he has files on all the crooks in the government to send them all to Leavenworth or line them up against a firing squad. He is falling on his sword for the good of the country.

Huh? Isn't cheating on ones spouse a requirement to hold office as a Democrat? OH I forgot or one has to be gay instead. Gay and cheaters get extra added party points.

He is a master of strategy.
He baits folks into his cunning trap.

Heck, Obama is the Master Baiter!

legalistic questions:

is he any freer, with regard to being questioned by Congress, as the ex-CIA chief than a sitting CIA-chief?

can executive privilege as easily block, selectively, the testimony of a former cabinet official as a sitting one?

if the second question is yes, does it apply to “opinion” as well as rememberances of official actions, or offical information?

i think the answers to those questions could either spell benefits or risks for Obama

But then the Commander in Chief did not resign. But that’s ok of course because he explained that he did not touch her, she touched him!

Her it is straight from CNN.

I think we are going bed bug nuts!

"He is falling on his sword for the good of the country."

That sort of man existed in the last century. You won't find anyone like that inside of D.C. in this one. The night of the long knives. He was a threat. Was told to step down. And, do it in such a way as to diminish his character and strip him of credibility. He gets a nice pension. Nobody gets hurt. In other words, commit sepuku, or the entire family stops breathing.

I’d already surmised he was having an extra-marital affair - with Obama.

It doesn’t look like anyone loves their country enough to stand up and tell the truth. Until we the people demand the truth nothing will happen. I fear that our whole country will end up looking like the front lawns in Long Island. God help us all.

That is my thinking. Someone showed up around 9/15, started flirting with him. Made sure they got caught last week... ?

Agree. he didn't have to make an excuse. He could simply have resigned to let the president form a new team for the next term.

“No one admits to an affair if it didn’t happen.”

Unless they have some even worse blackmail on him, and forced him to resign, with the affair as a cover story.

Why would he admit to such a thing in such a public way. Why not just say “for personal reasons” and leave it at that? Very strange.

This fits - He was being blackmailed by the affair. So he resigns as requested, then lets everyone know that he will not go quietly in the night. He is ready to sing like a canary ?

That story by itself doesn’t make sense. If they were blackmailing him, threatening to reveal the affair if he didn’t resign, then why would he resign, and reveal the affair himself, and not testify on top of that? As soon as he revealed the affair, the power of their blackmail vanished, and he would have no reason not to testify.

So, I think they must have some other blackmail on him, and the affair story is just his cover for why he is resigning.
