About 1984: Sorry, I Was Wrong Before I Was Right.

I come to you today hat in hand. I owe you all an apology. As you may recall, my election prognostication was something that looked just like 1984:

reagan_electoral_map11

1984 bitmap from by hard drive; this is the one I intended to reflect:

So, I’m sorry, okay?

I feel my inaccurate prognostication may be partially responsible for some of the PEDS (post election depressive syndrome) that we’ve all been experiencing. So today, in order to assist you in throwing off the lingering effects(snip)

(snip) For one thing, the images on my hard drive both shared the identical title, “1984.” As you know, that phenomenon is theoretically impossible and, I must say, an odd coincidence for images of two diametrically opposed visions of America:

One reflecting Ronnie’s vision of a shining city on a hill,

the other, Big Brother’s Guy’s vision of Fantasyland.

It is, actually, Orwellian - a case of digital imaging doublethink:

“The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them... George Orwell, 1984

(snip)I’m just going to chalk it up as one of those computer blips that sometimes occur inexplicably when the votes are counted. So, assuming that this error on my part has now been explained away to everyone’s satisfaction, let’s use this opportunity as a “teachable moment” and explore George Orwell’s dystopia a little further…Continued

I've been re-reading 1984 for the first time in about 30 years ... it's chilling how much closer we are to that world today.

BTW, Julia was an Outer Party member, like Winston, not a prole.

There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always — do not forget this, Winston — always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever.

One of the things about Orwell’s 1984, is that the gov’t re-wrote history and all the history books. Obama does that every day with his lies and deception-he simply re-tells the story, and once the MSM follows suit, becomes nearly impossible to find any truthful sources. The followers believe the lies as truth and look no further, as we have seen. Oh, and where is it (a city in PA?) where they now have AUDIO and video surveillance on their buses listening to your private conversations? Big Brother has already started.

FYI - The Rodham's favorite two books growing up as a girl in Park Ridge. IL were "Animal Farm" and "1984." Not for the reasons we might think, you know, like what we might want to avoid. Rather, she thought they were great blueprints for a life in politics.

The BFN is her alter ego.
