With their body language almost mirrored, Holly Petraeus, the now humiliated wife of former CIA chief David Petraeus sits just feet away from his 'mistress' Paula Broadwell in June of last year.
At the time of the photograph it is thought that the affair between the 60-year-old four-star general and his 40-year-old biographer was still continuing despite both being married with children.
And in a massive irony, both women are watching Petraeus sit before the Senate Select Committee that confirmed his position as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency - the job he resigned from yesterday as a direct result of his affair.

I don’t think she abandoned her husband. She cheated on hom, but I hadn’t heard she abandoned him.
Just a humble opinion, but Paula had to be doing the bosses at the New York Times as well...to get the various top interview situations that she did. I would imagine she probably slept with forty-odd gentlemen a year. She took personal pride over the general (her own personal property). When she saw competition....she reacted. That was her undoing.
The FBI would never have come around snooping until she sent the threatening emails to the 2nd gal. And the odd thing is that no one in the law enforcement community was going to react to threatening emails...until Representative Eric Cantor got involved...knowing nothing about where this was going to lead to.
To me....it makes a fine outstanding movie...a West Point grad stalker who was a Lt Col and New York Times journalistic slut, who got into some four-star general. You can’t find a better script.

I happen to not believe that much mileage is going to come from the Benghazi issue. But it seems to me that this draws more attention to Benghazi.

I wouldn’t be surprised but that they get married. They are a perfect match of corrupt, talentless, backstabbing, ambitious grifters.
What a shame, such a distinguished guy fell into the trap of temptation. A career, a lifetime built on loyalty and discipline. And right near the end of it, he let his guard down, compromised on his values and sold himself out. I’ll bet he’s kicking himself even if his wife isn’t. All for a bit of fun with a cheap little slapper.

It is no secret that Petraeus and Obama didn't like each other. Theirs was a relationship of mutual convenience. So I'm sure that the media is almost giddy in their smear campaign against Petraeus.

Petraeus was brought in to give bonafides to moderate voters and even to Colin Powell Republicans. Now that the election is over, his services are no longer needed.
I should have said it's successor, the FSB. And, actually, I think Belarus or perhaps Georgia still uses the name, KGB, for its intel service.
It seems to me, the General wanted to get caught and the reason he was sending all those e-mails. A paper trail, they used to call it. I really don’t believe any of this tall tale. For those who wanted a new democratic administration, it looks like the generals’s interim replacement will be another Bush guy.
