We certainly don’t disregard Catholicism, but one of the elements of common law-—that law is given by God and bubbles upward, rather than given to a ruler and is dispensed downward-—is more tied to the Protestant Reformation (although some of the Religioso Libertad movements, while communistic in tone, have some of this sentiment).
