We are talking about 4th graders here. Politics has no place here, right or left. It is as wrong for a conservative opinion as it is for a liberal opinion for exactly the same reason. I hope that she lives to teach another day but she should be corrected for this lapse.

Partisan politics, as such, has no direct place in a teacher's presentation to the children. But one cannot honestly teach, when the subject of America is before the class, and hide the fact that the Founding Fathers, leaders of the contemporary generation of settler communities, built by individual effort from the ground up, intended a Republic premised upon individual responsibility, local treatment of local problems & individual accountability, at every level.

Nor can any rational teacher pretend that it makes a whit of sense having a distant bureaucracy stick its nose into the local class room, the local physician's office, or the business of any individual in any local community's negotiating a mortgage loan on his family residence. And that rational teacher needs to be honest as to what were the grievances set forth in the Declaration of Independence; the same sort of grievances that all rational, traditionally minded Americans, have with the ever more intrusive Federal Bureaucracy, today.

See Declaration Of Independence--With Study Guide.

Guess it's OK, however, to teach them about homosex. (FTR, I agree with you -- 4th grade is too early to teach them about any of this stuff.)
