Nebraska Secession Petition

Peacefully grant the State of Nebraska to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

"...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government..."

I noticed there wasn't a Nebraska petition to withdraw so I created one. We need all the red states at a minimum out there. Please take a minute to sign the petition to get it over the 150 mark to be public.

Instead of meaningless secession petitions, we should work to getting two-thirds of the States to petition for an Article V Convention. Don’t tell me about the risk of a runaway convention, because we already have that: the Obama Administration.

Apart from repealing the 16th and 17th Amendments, what would you propose for the convention?

And, I disagree that these are meaningless petitions. These petitions give voice to a rising tide of discontent; far more than your fishing for an Article V Convention.

Understanding that appropriate petitions for secession must originate with the legislative authority in the state seeking the split, these petitions are still effective in demonstrating support and encouraging new solutions to problems left unsolved for far too long.

Congressional term limits, limitation on Congress's taxing authority, and severely limiting the governmental taking of private property (whether the taking be federal, State, or local). Those are the three that immediately came to mind.
