Confining land ownership to one race is pretty F-ed up. Wonder what would happen if there was a law somewhere that said only white people own land?

In short, it looks like the argument against citizenship is that Samoa would have to give up monarchist and racist policies? The horror!
Not nearly as bad as you make it out to seem. Enslavement of Africans was far worse. Segregation was far worse.
We came into the U.S. under own terms and weren’t conquered. The chiefs who signed the Deeds of Cession negotiated protection of the lands and culture as part of the deal of giving the U.S. access and rights to what is one of the best natural, deep draft harbors in the South Pacific.
I guess it would be horrible if we kicked white people off of their land and put them in reservations, but non-Samoan lands are considered freehold and can be purchased by anybody.
