Benghazi-gate and the Electoral College

Posted on 11/16/2012 1:39:46 PM PST by Jacquerie

The Electoral College will cast votes in the fifty states on December 17th. About half of the states require their electors by law, more or less to vote for the popular vote winner or political party winner. The rest do not require electors to vote for a specific candidate.

Obama apparently won the popular vote on November 6th.

What if it becomes clear before the Electoral College vote that Obama was running weapons from Libya to Al Queda in Syria and Egypt for use against Israel and perhaps against our American servicemen?

I say popular vote be d@mned.

If there are Godly men among the electoral college than I pray they will look to Him, and not the deluded citizenry, before making their decision. Your post is one of the first things to give me hope since the awful night of November 6. Thank you.

make an objection for cause of hearing the numerous charges of fraud and ineligible voters

Unfortunately, it wouldn't matter. Once the States send their Certificates of Ascertainment and Certificates of Vote to the President of the Senate, aka Plugs Biden, the outcome is a done deal.

The people selected to be electors are diehard partisans--they won't flip their votes over a matter of principle. (They might if blackmailed...which could have happened if Romney had won the electoral vote by two or three votes).

A distant cousin of mine was an elector from Missouri in 1948. No way he was not going to cast his vote for Truman...he was Truman's personal lawyer.

I agree insofar that the formalities as stated in the Constitution leaves the counting of the electoral votes up to the assembled congresspersons apparently without recourse. However, it is in this ‘counting’ requirement that it seems there might be/could be a ray of hope to at least question the votes as these are being counted e.g. is/was such and such a vote based on legitimate election voting. I don’t like the idea of setting a precedent but at this time with demonstrable fraud at such a time in our history and with the Chicago method of getting votes/voters such action is probably warranted.
