Scandal: David Petraeus' admission that he knew almost immediately that Benghazi was a terrorist attack raises anew our question: Was he coerced into telling lawmakers Sept. 14 that it was caused by a video?
The tangled web that is Benghazi-gate got more tangled Friday when, according to Rep. Peter King, David Petraeus testified in a closed-door hearing that his agency determined immediately after the Sept. 11 Libya attack that "al-Qaida involvement" was suspected — but that the line was taken out in the final version circulated to and by administration officials.
"No one knows yet exactly who came up with the final version of the talking points," King told reporters after the House hearing on Friday. "His testimony today was that from the start, he had told us that this was a terrorist attack," he said.
King, a New York Republican, said he told Petraeus he had a "different recollection," referring to his Sept. 14 briefing to members of Congress that the attack on our Benghazi consulate was a "flash mob" gone wild in response to an Internet video.
"The original talking points were much more specific about al-Qaida involvement. And yet the final ones just said indications of extremists," King said, adding that a CIA analyst specifically told lawmakers that the al-Qaida affiliates line "was taken out." By whom and for what reason remain open questions.
This begs the question, which we raised in an earlier editorial, of whether Petraeus' Sept. 14 briefing was influenced by an administration that had knowledge of his affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell.
If he knew almost immediately it was terrorism, as his CIA station chief reported in the first 24 hours, why did he reportedly parrot the administration's false narrative three days later?

The CIA knows very well who changed the talking points and why. Petraeus may not know, but the CIA very clearly has this infoprmation , and its about time that Congress got it in hand.

The 50.5 percent that voted for Obama don’t care about lies. They care that the gravy train continues for as long as possible. It won’t be much longer. We’re about to enter a full-blown economic depression. I think that we’ve been in one since Obama took over in 2009, but it will be undeniable by the mid-term elections. Even the MSM isn’t going to be able to stick their head in tha sand that long.

Logically that does not follow from the first 3 points that you made about CIA -- points that I agree with. The failure was outside CIA. Most probably at the White House. We just don't have the "Who did what & when" yet. We'll get there eventually. Probably will be more firings by the Obama administration before that happens.
The WH is way behind the curve on this one. Susan Rice will most likely be fired at some point, but they are still defending her reputation as a potential replacement for Hillary at State. Obama's OODA-Loop is way too long on this scandal.

You’re exactly right. Why do we analyze things and talk about them but NOTHING is done? Ask the right questions to the right people!!! And don’t be afraid to start impeachment proceedings against the president if it’s warranted. GROW A PAIR.

Peter King has access to the transcipt and written briefing of Sep. 14. Why does King rely on his "recollection", when he can simply refer to the transcript and written briefing, to set the record straight about what Petraeus said on Sep. 14?

Obama is highly succeptable to blackmail, he has so many concealed secrets about his past.
However the trason buck stops with Obama. And he needs to be investigated thoroughly.
