Let's avoid the blame for the fiscal cliff

Cliffs Hurt!

We conservatives haven't been very politically adept recently, we may consider watching our step!

OK, first of all I am a very conservative voter who considers himself a conservative RINO. I vote republican because I won't ever again vote for an independent that will take a vote away from the republican candidate.

That said: I think the argument can be made that we should let the taxes go up on high income earners only if we exclude S corporations. It is small business that we are trying to protect. When democrats cry about this one, their hypocrisy can be exposed. It will suck for the high-income individual, but I don't think this will hurt the economy much; most in that income category pay most of their taxes in capitol gains anyway.

The democrats won't separate the S corporations from individuals because they want this move to be a surreptitious tax upon middle-class business owners, yes we must protect these entrepreneurs. I would hope that if we let this tax go up to 39% on high earning "INDIVIDUALS" and excluded S corporations that our smarter constituents would understand this tactic if sold properly.

The concept of cutting taxes to increase revenue is impossible for the stupid to understand. The democrats cater to the stupid, lie to the stupid, then mobilize the stupid against us. Tough luck for the USA that the uninformed have an equal vote as the informed.

In a perfect world I'd like to hold our ground, and we could, but since a majority of the American public is proven themselves stupid and gullible, I think without throwing the gullible a bone it will kill us in 2014 and 2016 if we leave ourselves open to be blamed for being unreasonable. I think it would be reckless politics to take the blame for us going off the fiscal cliff.

The real fiscal cliff will occur when current revenues cannot service America's debt.

Not stupid and gullible. Worse. Disinterested and indifferent.

whenever boehner and obama speak about the financial cliff, and raising taxes, boehner needs to be holding a list of ridiculous things we are spending billions on, and ask obama why we should raise taxes on Americans while we are wasting all this money absurd spending. it would be a long list.

Given the current media, it doesn't matter what conservatives do. We will be blamed for whatever bad happens.

How much of the deficit do you actually think the government could finance with taking the money from the individuals you deem worthy of “not feeling it?”

Do you think it would cover the deficit? If so, could it make a dent in the actual national debt?

IF you are talking about income, then no - on both counts.

What you are talking about is taxing assets on which taxes have very likely already been paid. Okay, let’s assume we’ll let the Democrats do that. How exactly are they gonna differentiate between rich peoples’ assets and regular assets “normal” Americans apparently unworthy of contributing their fair share? The answer is they WON’T.

Do you have an IRA? Do you have a 401K? Roth IRA? Your home paid for? Second home? A big weekend travel bus and boat?

The point is confiscation of anything in excess of Democrats’ determination as ‘necessary’. They are aiming to confiscate your retirement funds and assets (or tax the hell out of them) and give you a pittance for a credit of a couple a hundred extra bucks in your SS check...

You still think all that talk is reasonable?

“Fair” is a matter of perspective. Their perspective is they don’t like that I’ve worked since age 14 and saved. My perspective is that over half (2012 election) of this country are lazy shits who don’t want to work when its easier to steal what I have and enslave my grandchildren.

Hell NO.

hate to burst your bubble a little bit, but it is your children and your grandchildren that want to take what you have earned without actually earning it themselves...

the overwhelming majority that voted for fubo and his giveaways were people under 40....

they have gotten and are getting what they wanted..

screw them and protect what is yours..

let them eat cake

Hardly. Both my kids voted against Obama, even the one that lives in NYC. The grandkids? They voted at school and they were happy RR won. The real American dream is still to teach your children right from wrong. To show them liars, cheaters and stealers (Obama and his followers) and tell them how they lose because of it. To work, save and prosper so that your children and grandchildren have a leg up. It is incumbent on all us old farts to preserve our fortunes for our heirs - to keep it from Obama and the Democrats. Not to have it for ourselves, but for them.

No I never said the democrat points were reasonable

I am only speaking from a tactical point of view.

There were many here that out of principle wouldn't vote for the mormon, sometimes we are guilty of not being tactical

Perhaps not your direct children and grandchildren ( mine are also anti fubo ) but the generation that is doing it..

protect what is yours, and screw the people talking about saddling the next generation with debt...

remember this is what they voted for, and the only way to learn is to let them make their mistakes and pay the price for them..

protect what is yours, and screw the next generation..

let them eat cake

I can sympathize with your wish to do something ‘tactical’ against them. I really can. But this give them an inch and let them hang themselves ploy isn’t a game to be played by the oafish amateurs we have in Congress that we sometimes call Republicans.

These devils (Democrats) need to be fought tooth and nail at every turn. No relenting, no surrender on anything.

We need to ridicule them and their low IQ, low information voters at every chance. We need to stop them, not give in to see how far they’ll go....

Next time you wanna see ‘how far they’ll go’, give your dog the option of everything in your refrigerator and just see when he’ll stop

I am under no illusion of how far the democrats will go, I have been battling these convoluters of the truth for a long time. They would love for us to not compromise so we can sail over the cliff so it will be our fault. Our rightful stand on principle backfired on us on Newt's government shut down in the 90's, and they would love to wrap this around our neck and send us to the bottom of the public relations ocean.

Yes this is a bone for them but most of the revenue will be removed from it since (as I understand) 9 out of 10 targeted will become excluded. They could claim a win that would be nearly empty.

The Hole Picture
