Ask people who has stocks in Russian energy companies. As for authoritarianism it is a huge inprovement in terms of liberties over any regime they had in centuries. And there is a room for further improvement. South Korea was autoritarian just a few decades ago. If it was liberal instead it could be absorbed by the Norks now. Every lower middle class society has to be authoritarian to same extent. If they aren’t they are Mexico. Let Russians climb from $18,000 to at least $30,000 average annual income and they’ll be demanding for more freedom and small government. And they seems to be in right direction.
Amusing. Now go learn from history and review what you just said. Nothing of the sort is happening in either Red China or Russia and its burgeoning Eurasian Union.

Is authoritarianism good for the USA too?

Even Red China has lower tax rates than the US, but that’s not stopping their big bubbles from forming.
So may be they aren’t that Red now?

Lower tax rates does not un-Red make. And bubbles are a symptom of going too far left, as has been evidenced in the USA.

The goal is to recreate the USSR after all, but not as a communist empire strictly.
Evidence? Is the problem in their dislike to NATO enlargement or what?

Evidence is all around. Putin is already on record vis-á-vis his feelings on the fall of the USSR, and also on record praising the USSR’s so-called “values” and open insofar as desiring to apply those “values” to his Eurasian Union. Not very “conservative” at all, and fits right in with his penchant for nationalization.

As far as NATO goes, the EU basically controls that institution now; they have controlled it ever since the early 1990s. Certainly logical that Putin would interpret any moves westward as encroachment upon his rebuilt Soviet Empire as the Eurasian Union; also rather scary since it is a repeat of history.

Here is a map of the planned Eurasian Union. Look familiar, but only with a couple of exceptions?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

United States were born free. They don’t have a background other nations has.
Authoritarianism is absolute bad for America but I’m not sure if it stay so in a few generations. People just has to wake up to keep freedoms.
In order to make society benefit from freedoms you need a responsible hardworking society. That is what made America great.
As soon as you are to breed a 95% takers who also lacks any wish for enterprise society you’ll need comissars and work camps to keep things going.

As for modern Russia, imagine Obama declared full communism as soon as 2008? There could be a new revolution to oust him. But just in a few years we have a majority of idiots who vote him back for a free phone and “tax the rich”. In another few democrat terms you’ll have a majority who’ll sell all their rights for a flat TVs.

That may work opposite way and it seems to work in former red nations and it takes time as well. Their leaders can’t just declare free republic considering their background, just like Obama can’t declare full communism considering American background. Yet.
