I agree. Messianism won’t do us any favours, and even people on here contribute to the problem by emotional outbursts in response to legitimate questions about proposed candidates. There’s not, fundamentally, much difference between us and them when there’s belief that ‘the leader’ can not be criticised or even questioned. Reagan seems to be approaching secular sainthood in places, but even he would have grave reservations about these developments, I’m sure. I think what we need to do is stop talking about this, and start putting another party together, beginning at the local level. If you’re interested, we can talk on this thread or mail me here. And that goes for anyone reading this. We don’t have to measure success by winning the presidency with a new party in 2016. I expect this will be a long-haul. But we can get started and we can make the mistakes we’re going to at the local level first, and more importantly, learn from them, correct them, refine, and succeed.
Defeatists, you can go be defeated elsewhere. I share your pain, but I have no more time for you and your exhortations that any effort is useless and is just making it harder for you to numb it with tears in your beer and old movies from before the fall from grace.
