Was looking for a spy story I had read an excerpt of in a Omni magazine back in the 1980s.
It was about two brothers who were orphans who were raised to be spies. in the book it makes mention that there is a safe house/zone that many retired spies go to, and nobody is allowed to kill anyone there. the younger brother, who in his 30s, sneaks in, and kills an old spy he had an issue with, i believe te old guy killed a friend or mentor of his. the whole community finds out he is the killer, and goes out to kill him for breaking the no-kill rule. a younger spy winds up having a knife fight with him, and kills the brother.
was wondering if anyone here knew the book, and/or author. i would like to find te book and read it again. there's more to it , i remember.

#6 is correct, there was a very good tv-movie about that time...the two spies loved candy bars from their mentor.

Its the trilogy mentioned, repeatedly, in the posts by rotundusmaxmus.
An excellent series. Morrell was on target in the mid-80s. Went a bit flat after this series.
Trivia....it also contain some of the earliest references to Krav Maga training by the Mossad. Although no name is given to it.

Thanks to everyone who responded, it was this series by Morrell. From the pdf I found it looks like there were four books, the copy I looked up broke it up into 4 books.
Yeah, I did notice it referenced the whole Krav Maga thing without actually calling it that. One of the first more realistic fiction novels I read concerning actual fighting.
Sad however today it’s doubtful it would have worked out well for the guy. Too much technology would stop people or alert others well before - plus telephone technology is so monitored, doubtful it would’ve worked out for him.

(I can neither confirm or deny that; even if I could, I couldn't - it's classified.)
