You lied when you claimed that Reagan called himself a libertarian, he actually admonished them for their liberalism in that same 1975 interview with them.

If you look at the state of the GOP before and after Reagan, I think it’s fair to say that he really wasn’t a Republican either. He’d already left the Democrats. I think Reagan was a man who studied issues, talked to real Americans outside of politics, and made up his own mind. He avoided slavishly following any particular ideology.
