Next round of Obamacare rules to be tough on employers

Employers should expect the next round of regulations for the implementation of the Affordable Care Act to be a doozy, says Janet Trautwein, executive vice president and CEO of the National Association of Health Underwriters.

This round of regs, now expected in early January, deal with the employer mandate.

Employers not only will have to say whether they offer health care coverage or not, but they’ll also have to report specifically which employees they’re offering coverage for, Trautwein said. In addition, employers are going to have to track the coverage, probably monthly, she said.

Trautwein, whose organization is based in Washington, D.C., stopped by the Dallas Business Journal office this morning.

“When I talk about there being a new burden on employers that was not there before, I’m not kidding,” Trautwein said...

Is the government going to pay employers for doing their paperwork for them?

"Gee - this is going to help me create jobs and hire people..."

Sure it is - more government jobs, bigger government budgets, more government assistance dollars, etc. Obama thinks all good comes from an all controlling government. To the extent he values the private sector at all, it is to fund his life style and be co-opted into part of the fascistic government model he espouses.

Sounds like an unfunded mandate. Lawmakers and bureaucrats have no idea how much burden they put on small businesses. What’s worse is they don’t care.

Best bet is not to offer it. Let the insurance companies fight the battle as they lose all the corporate plans.

Good thing those “employers” have deep pockets and take increases in the cost of doing business without passing those costs on to consumers.

I vaguely remember something about the insurance companies being behind the dems when cooking up this scheme.

Don’t make the mistake of believing this is even remotely supposed to benefit us peons. This is strictly a means of giving the government more power; healthcare was just the smokescreen they hid behind.

Nowhere does this law say healthcare costs will become more affordable and if it does, it’s a big lie. That’s not what it’s about. It should be called the “Insurance Mandate” law.

The big-government/big-corporate criminal complex does not like competition from small business, so they will just collude to drive them to extinction.
