Um, they did that in the 1930s - it was called Prohibition. Want to know how that worked out? The criminals (a.k.a. the mafia, or mob) ran the liquor industry and made millions. The law abiding citizens obeyed the law. This is exactly how gun control will work too. Oh yeah, they repealed prohibition - it just didn’t work.

Gun prohibition would work even more poorly - guns are much more durable than booze.

Actually Prohibition (The Volstead Act) was passed in 1919 and became the law in 1920. It was repealed in 1933.
