My take on this is that if he were serious about gun-control - in making a real difference and substantively TAKING guns away from law-abiding citizens, he would have put someone who actually had a functioning brain in charge of the “gun-question forum” he’s tapped Plugs Biden on heading.
He would actually detour his financial tax tyranny into taking guns? Where does this get him the money he needs to sustain the leeches who put him where he is? Free publicity and good feelings. He isn’t running for President any more. His ideology is one of redistribution, and he can’t get that diverting national attention to a fight that may well end up in a guaranteed civil war if they try to go too far.
