Skip to comments.A sad announcement - Lost guns, so sad.

I know I probably shouldnt have done it especially because yesterday was a snowy day with the temperature here in Colorado dipping well below freezing but on a whim I took all my guns and ammunition out in a small skiff on one of the nearby lakes and, sad to say, the boat capsized when I stupidly tried to prove to myself that I could do it Gangnam style, even in an inherently unbalanced situation, while also tending to a fishing pole.
All my firearms and my ammo stockpile is now, as a consequence, sleeping with the fishes.
Just so you know. All you who are reading here. And no, I have no plans to replace them at this point. Because children.
don’t you just hate it when that happens.....
What a pity!
OMG! You too?
Same thing happened to me. It was a shame. I thought it would be fun to go on a canoe ride down the Sabine river. Splash. All lost. And those catfish are just too big to risk going after them.
This happens far too much with gun owners I think the NRA should change their name to the National Raft Association and provide boating education.
Maybe a diver can recover them.
Oh, gosh, me too! I hate when that happens. Mine are at the bottom of the Great Falls area in the Potomac. There’s no way they could be recovered from there—too dangerous. :-((
There’s been a rash of that happening lately. Tragic, really.
It is literally 5 minutes to midnight (the end of the world).
Thanks for reminding me - LoL!
It’s bad enough reading this in the comments on EVERY gun thread. Does the endlessly posted lost in a lake shite really need it’s own thread?
How weird me also. This is becoming an epidemic.
A BoatUS membership, the perfect compliment to your NRA Life member card.
Well.. how did you lose YOURS?
Dang. Same thing happened to me, and I live in the South. Go figure.
Does the endlessly posted lost in a lake shite really need its own thread?
Yes, yes it does, thanks for asking.
Ed’s Underwater Salvage and Firearms - may I help you?
That’s all well and good. But I use mine. And always have an AR in the trunk of my vehicle. So, they ban them, I get pulled over, they find the AR. And then what?
Unless you have ever been faced with your guns being confiscated, and I have, then this “from my cold dead hands” crap sounds good. If I had followed that line of thinking then you would have been reading about me and my fugitive, or dead status, about one year ago today.
He said he marked the bottom of the boat but it was a rental.
I lost all of mine in an out house accident. If someone wants them -——.
You know, I had the EXACT SAME thing happen to me just this last Monday. Don’t know what I’ll do now that all my guns and ammo and accessories are completely gone and utterly unrecoverable.
If you lose your dangerous, thinking guns due to a boat accident, you should check the water daily, looking for shot, dead, fish. Just because the thinking guns are under water, they may still decide to shoot and kill fish. Of course, you may eat the fish - but STAY OUT OF THE WATER.
You think that’s bad, just wait until that possum guy finds this thread.
OBVIOUSLY you filed a police report, since without it, that event never happened - at least as far as the Men in Black are concerned.
...of course filling out a false police report is a felony (just a reminder...no implication).
LOL! You were smart to ‘document’ that here on FR.
Thats why you have more than one with some hidden away so the tyrants cant get them all.
Ive often heard that with such a traumatic event, people forget to do such things.
Why would you need to file a police report? There was no criminal activity involved.
” stupidly tried to prove to myself that I could do it Gangnam style”
it must be an epidemic
I suspect a conspiracy
Funny thing is take a look at some of the bystanders around a typical gunshow with people carrying them in and out some of them will act like that can happen.
Yeah, good luck with that. In the summertime, it's as hard to keep me out of the water as it is to keep pants on me. I still bring crawdads home when I find them.
On a serious note, you do bring up a good point. My normal use pistol resides between computer A and computer 2 most of the time, and has never shot any human. With or without my assistance. It has helped me to establish that this property and person won't be messed with.
Oh, I have more than one. But I’m attached to them all. It’s kinda like trying to decide which one of your children is your favorite.....
I even have 4 “assault” drillings from Germany. If the libs saw them they would have a stroke. 8x57JR under 12ga. Best of both worlds.
I had the same thing happen to me at Elephant Butte lake on 7 November. I lost the gun safe too.
Yes, in fact it does. I give it my inprimi potest.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. ;)
I don’t own any firearms because I have never purchased firearms privately from individuals who do not care about seeing identification or knowing who I am. So I don’t, and never will, own any firearms or be armed to the teeth or anything.
Besides, the children.
Illegal aliens stole mine. Right out of the garage while I was having lunch.
A poster in my local newspaper lost all his firearms in Norris Lake.
Loading a gun safe on a boat or root canal....?
I'm afraid I'd have to go with strapping you down for the root canal, instead of helping with the safe. I moved one. Once.
I marked it Abandon In Place with orange paint when I moved again.
That’s the same reason I don’t own any firearms, Lancey.
What a co-inky-dink!
Nothing compared to what happened to me! I was in my new sail canoe, on Glen Lake. Gosh these things are fast! Tacked too hard, and flipped her over. Lost my guns and ammo, but also all my gold and silver that I was using as ballast! I’m ruined!
sorry for all of your losses
I am truly saddened at your news.
I know quite a few people who lost their guns during TS Irene last year.
I’m sure there are a lot who lost their guns recently during Sandy.
Floods are lethal.
Yes, couldn’t believe it. Dad was taking our firearms across the Hood Canal (three miles across and over 1200 feet deep) to show them to some friends when suddenly the boat tipped some from the wind and over they went - 1200 feet down. Whoda thought? Boom, gone. Just like that.
Same ol’ joke, time after time, even though it lacks even casual plausibility (who takes their guns out on a boat?), but somehow this hoary, unfunny, unclever excuse for humor keeps being posted on FR. Some things cannot be fully explained, I guess. The only thing that comes to mind is a low threshold for humor among too many people.
OK, folks-time to get serious.
Should the authorities come after your guns, you will either fight or give them up. Fact is, if you try some lame-ass excuse like “boating accident”, they’ll knock out every wall in your house and tear every plank out of your floors looking for them. They won’t leave until they have them.
Sorry for the buzzkill, but, uh-wake up, folks...
Least it wasn’t the children that made the splash.
How are you doing with your diving lessons though?
