While gun sales are spiking across the country in the wake of last weeks school shooting in Connecticut, people in the firearms industry arent necessarily enjoying the profits.
Instead, they are gripped with worry about potential gun control fallout.
Just ask Brian Sipe, owner of the Montana Rifleman barrel and action manufacturing company located on Montana 35 east of Kalispell.
Im very concerned about legislation. If they do an assaults weapons ban, Im going to have to lay off people, said Sipe, who is in regular communication with firearms manufacturers across the county.
President Barack Obamas call for a special commission to discuss ways to reduce gun violence is just the latest subject in Sipes conversations with people in the industry.
Theyre expecting something, Sipe said. They just dont know what. All of us think its up to the senators. The House wont vote against the Second Amendment.
Sipe is paying close attention to Montana Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester, both Democrats.
Im concerned with how they are going to vote. They damn well better vote with the people of Montana and the Second Amendment. If I have to lay off people, I am going to put it on their doorstep.
The Montana Rifleman manufactures barrels for a variety of rifles and pistols, but Sipe said 95 percent of his production is barrels for AR-15-type rifles, the kind used by the school shooter in Newtown, Conn.

“Sipe said 95 percent of his production is barrels for AR-15-type rifles, the kind used by the school shooter in Newtown”
revising history to suit their needs again....just shameful
So did he or didn't he use a AR during the shootings? I've heard it was in the trunk of the car, and I've heard the ME said all the victims had .223 wounds.
Any outlawing of sales of AR-15-type semi-autos would extremely cut revenues for government. The socialists would be cutting off their own incomes to spite their pride.
Never under estimate just how squishy a RINO’s spine is.
No, the shooter used a quad .50 cal system mounted on a halftrack to kill his victims. Except for the ones he blasted with a high capacity AK-47-like Stinger missile. The police were warned that he had a Javelin system as well with many rounds stored in the high capacity trunk in the back of his car.
