Re: Scream movie reference—

There was an earlier movie that came out during what happened to be my prime babysitting years. I hated the commercials that came on for it when I was babysitting. The movie was “When a Stranger Calls.” Scream was doing a parody of that...

I also managed to babysit once at a place that literally was The Last House on the Left— and it happened to be Elm Street.

There was an even earlier student made short film that was included in the Genesis Flicks that played on campuses in the late 60’s and early 70’s. I've tried to find them on line but with no luck. There were some really good short films in those shows.

My son and I stayed up watching scary movies a year or two ago. I found the full version of When a Stranger Calls on YouTube. It started off pretty darn scary, but when they revealed the killer in the middle and started probing his psychology it took all the fun out of it. He was rather pathetic and not scary at all. Then there was some weird bit too where he was trying to pick up Colleen Dewhurst.

I thought the modern version of it from 2006 was more scary. And I’m not really into scary movies as a genre.
