And they say Wayne LaPierre is crazy? I’ll show you crazy.

After tragedies there is often a call for action – any action- regardless of how ineffective it might be. This week Wayne LaPierre of the NRA made a speech in which he called for armed cops in schools and it was ridiculed by Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Sen-elect Chris Murphy of Connecticut. Blumenthal called it “sadly and shamefully inadequate.” Murphy called it “revolting and tone-deaf.” The New York Daily News called LaPierre the “craziest man on Earth.” Let’s examine those accusations.

Among LaPierre's remarks:

- We care about our money, so we protect our banks with armed guards. American airports, office buildings, power plants, court houses, even sports stadiums are all protected by armed security.

- We care about our money, so we protect our banks with armed guards. American airports, office buildings, power plants, court houses, even sports stadiums are all protected by armed security.

- A gun in the hands of a Secret Service agent protecting the President isn't a bad word. A gun in the hands of a soldier protecting the United States isn't a bad word. And when you hear the glass breaking in your living room at 3 a.m. and call 911, you won't be able to pray hard enough for a gun in the hands of a good guy to get there fast enough to protect you.

So why is the idea of a gun good when it's used to protect our President or our country or our police, but bad when it's used to protect our children in their schools?

Crazy, right?

Right now 30% of schools have a police officer. Police chiefs in both St. Louis and Cincinnati have called for training and arming teachers. President Bill Clinton passed a program called “COPS in schools” and it placed 2200 police officers in schools. You may have read that the attack at Columbine wasn’t prevented by a police officer, but ask anyone blurting that out if Columbine would have been better off without a police officer present. Who knows how many more would have been killed without a cop present? Neil Gardner, the cop who was on duty at Columbine on the day of the attack thinks armed cops in schools is a good idea.

Are they all crazy?

Gun free zones? They are magnets for killers. John Lott writes:

"With just one single exception, the attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson in 2011, every public shooting since at least 1950 in the U.S. in which more than three people have been killed has taken place where citizens are not allowed to carry guns."

The gun free schools act passed in the late 1990s at the DEMAND of Bill Clinton turned the schools into a shooting gallery.

Our nation is becoming dominated by a majority with a mob mentality following their leader like a cult.

Rational discourse and use of logic and facts on almost any subject is totally rejected by rabid name callers.......

This is the beginning of the end, and I’m afraid we are past the turning point. It took a few more years (28) than George Orwell expected, but it is here.

And there isn’t one leader on our side with the will and ability to stand up against it.......

the problem with Columbine was that Neal Gardner was not at the cafeteria that day but down the street and around the block watching the kids in the smoking area when it started. i think had he been at the cafeteria he could have stopped it then ...

There was no armed guard at Columbine when Harris and Kliebold assaulted the school. The officer was not even on school grounds. He did return in time to shoot at Harris a couple of times which probably saved some lives but the police in general did not distinguish themselves at Columbine. They should have breached the building immediately.

So you're in favor of using FRee Republic as a free advertising platform for scumbag bloggers.

Good for you that you have chosen the side of the scumbags.

At least you have chosen a side.

What other aspects of scumbagism do you support?

I’ll just repeat myself again, a “gun free zone” is a target in search of a mass murderer, and a brain dead stupid policy.

It’s about time that the politicians agree to stop standing in the way of protecting our children, and insure that the children get the same A-1 protection afforded to the politicians.

If they want law abiding American citizens to give up their right to self defense, and to continue to deny the right of defense to our children, then I have one thing to say: YOU FIRST, YOU BRAIN DEAD STUPID POLITICIAN.

No, I am in favor of reading interesting news stories, reports and thoughts on those stories and reports.

That’s why I come here.

Didn’t Freerepublic post that it wanted blogger reports and the like a while back?

> YOU FIRST, YOU BRAIN DEAD STUPID POLITICIAN.

The politicos crying the loudest for “gun control” have guards armed with full auto machine pistols and body armor.

They are filthy, lying, hypocritical PIGS!

It’s not hindsight, it’s a policy decision. ROE for cops changed after Columbine. ROE in most places now calls for immediate entry into schools. For reasons that are evident.

Well, according to the Governor's report on Columbine, both Gardner and an unarmed guard named Andy Marton were eating lunch in Gardner's patrol car. They were parked somewhere in the parking lot and had no clue that the perps were shooting in the school. They learned that from a janitor calling from inside the school. They then drove around to the side where Gardner exchanged shots with one of the murderers. He then waited for the SWAT team.

Had Gardner been inside, maybe it might have ended differently

How does a blog get “news stories”?

They have no staff, they simply reword MSM stuff.

Supporting them is simply helping wankers pull off a bit of theft.

Piss on 94.8% of blogs.

I don’t do recreational drugs so I wish the crazies at the New Yawk Daily Snooze would tell us how the guns can be held responsible for the Sandy Hook murders. My guns have never gone out on their own to shoot people. It’s the people, stupid! The people our society has created with its “tolerance” and “anything goes” attitude.
