The push to ban standard magazines is insane. It is easier to make a 30 round magazine than it is to grow a marijuana plant. The left is pursuing an unachievable result that will not help stop mass murder.
Rifle magazines are made from plastic, steel, aluminum, or fiberglass. There are 100s of millions of them in existence in the United States. They are easily made at home. They are just a box with a spring. If you have a few 10 round magazines it is easy to convert them into 30 round magazines. Technology has improved to the point that a person can print out functional AR-15 magazines at home.
Before that, magazines were easily made of sheet metal. Of course, there is little incentive to make a magazine when they are easily purchased. If standard capacity magazines are mindlessly outlawed as they were with the Clinton assault weapon ban, the cost for factory magazines increases and the incentive to make them at home increases substantially.
Focusing on inanimate, easily made objects such as magazines satisfies the urge to "do something" without really doing anything except to violate the social contract and to make many millions of people into criminals.
Here is a link showing the printable AR-15 Magazine.
The incompetence of this administration is amazing and awesome.
What more efficient way to overwhelm the system?
>>The statists are afraid of technology, especially 3D printing. <<
When 3D printing is criminal only 2D people will print...
(or something similar)
The thing has been removed...
Jihadists use cell phones to detonate bombs but that is not an issue for them.
To the left, only gun lovers must live with 18th Century technology.
It will be a pretty efficient way for them to lose Dem and RINO seats in the House and Senate in 2014 too.
There will be no elections during martial law.

No, it is still there. I just checked.
Ah, yes, of course. I hadn’t thought of that.
If the technology is in circulation there will be no way for a government to effectively stop this with the possible exception of controls upon the propellant (gun powder)
Even now you can with a few rather basic metal working tools - lath, drill press, saw, riveter and welder - create a fully functional AK-47 clone in your garage workshop. If you can print the parts from a high density polymer then any restrictions on the availability of firearms are simply gone.
They run from 3-4 thousand dollars. http://www.bitsfrombytes.com/usd/catalog/3dtouch

It then becomes political speech.
