Two days after reports that hotels in Washington are not filling up ahead of Barack Obama's second inauguration, the president emailed supporters to encourage them to come to the festivities scheduled for next month in Washington, D.C.
"Because of you, I'll be taking the oath of office again on January 21st," Obama wrote in an email to supporters. "I'd like you to be part of this historic moment -- whether that's in Washington, D.C., or wherever you call home. As we make plans, we want to make sure the people who made this inauguration possible are the first to know what's happening."

When i attended Reagan’s first inauguration in 1980, the closest accommodation I could find was 50miles away in Fredericksburg.

That's a real slap in the face to those who were convinced that there was no way he could win in November but voted for him anyway so their name would remain on the "nice person" list.
He just wants to give the impression that the majority of people support him for “show” when the MSM is there. You remove the cameras and that email would never have gone out. He’s like the Wizard of Oz; all show and nothing behind the curtains except the devices he uses to fool and scare the people.
He needs to offer them something for free.

To get people to show he needs to offer free stuff. Condoms and phones should do the trick.
Maybe his inaug committe can install Sandra Fluck in a nearby Motel Six and lineup recalcitrant attendees for free bj's.

Even the pencil-necked, big-eared socialist handing out gifts of other peoples’ money, stolen through government bureaucracies and edicts to continue the feeding of these useless pustules of society, cannot get them out from in front of their X-Boxes and HD TV’s to cheer for Baracka Claus.
The people who voted for him don’t understand English and don’t have the money to go to DC...I hope the streets are visibly empty.
