I don’t have that on my cable line up. Makes me nostalgic, use to watch that show with my daddy when I was a small child.

I don’t remember the show revealing that he was a pimp and a saloon owner. He did seem to support gun control-it had endless opportunities for corruption.

Found it on my guide on the Encore Western Channel (not HD of course). It’s right after HGWT.

I used to watch it and it was entertaining but pretty ridiculous at times.

Hugh O’Brien was fairly conservative except he pushed gun control very strongly.

I recall one particularly stupid episode where Wyatt kept having to bail out the Texas Rangers.

Possibly the best Wyatt Earp tribute movie...

Haven’t seen it, but watch Bat Masterson with Gene Berry on Hulu with kids.

HGWT has Robert Blake (Tony Baretta) as a young thug. Art imitates life.

It was a pretty decent series, albeit somewhat ‘starchy’ compared to some of the other classic western shows. Some of the narration made it seem a bit more dated at times. But, it was a little unique in how the episodes had a sort of semi ‘soap opera’ type of continuity.

Star Hugh O’Brian had an interesting history in that he was the youngest Marine DI in WW2. He’s still around, but getting up in years. I briefly met him a couple of times. I do have a “best of” dvd-set of the Wyatt Earp series that came out a few years ago, which offered a pretty nice overview.

Good show! I think I’ll be watching it. I got tired of watching HGWT when the same shows kept repeating. I hope they don’t do that with “The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.”

There was an article in the “American Rifleman” a year or two back about an old soldier who was stationed near Tombstone and knew Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday.

If my memory is correct he thought Earp was a pimp and scoundrel who only pinned on a badge when it suited his interests. He described Doc Holliday as an insane killer.
