This ignores the basic problem. The Dem party has devolved into a group that will do anything — anything — to win, including fraud, threats, physical violence, perjury, cheating, theft, gangsterism, and allegedly murder. No matter what form the new opposition to them takes as a result of the suicide of the Republican Party, are we conservatives willing to use the Dems’ tactics against them to level the playing field? It seems to me that our own constitutional characteristics put us at a permanent disadvantage compared to the tactics Obama joyfully uses, with the drooling approval of the Rancid Press.

What are we willing to do to win?

You make a very good point. The GOP insists on being “gentlemanly” and believes that sweet reason will bring the Dems around - while the Dems are out torching anything their flames can reach and ullulating jungle war cries.

I don’t think we should necessarily sink to that level, but one thing we have to do is get the message out more forcefully. I know the media is opposed to the GOP and this makes it more difficult, but that’s because GOPers in general are not willing to become something that the media can’t ignore. That is, they’ve got to kick, scream and howl, instead of holding themselves above the fray and thus becoming invisible. And remember, he who is silent gives consent. So the press, even if they were willing to cover the GOP, doesn’t have anything to cover.

This was the big error of Bush from the very start. He didn’t have to get into the politics of revenge and hatred in which Obama is engaging, but he should have done a lot more to come out and defend himself and challenge his critics. But it seems to be a matter of common consent that a GOPer just lies down and lets them run over him.
